I’m not really a Hacker News regular, but someone shared Bookshelf there, and it somehow made it to the front page
Really cool to see the interest. Thanks to everyone who checked it out and joined the discussion!
Feedback and feature ideas are very welcome
I’ve started building Bookshelf, an open-source, self-hosted library for the ebooks you own.
I want it to be a simple, polished way to manage and read your personal library without being tied to a particular ecosystem.
Still early, so I’m curious: what features, providers, or integrations would you want from something like this?

This matters more than people think.
React didn’t just change the syntax; it rewired how we think.
It boxed devs into patterns and took away the chance to really learn about software architecture.
Now LLMs write most of the code…
and architecture is the only skill that matters.
The problem is, many devs never got to learn it.
Gea feels like taking that freedom back.
Have you ever tried using VS Code after getting so used to Cursor?
We all used to say it was just a VS Code fork, but somehow, they really changed the experience.
I’d still choose @cursor_ai over VS Code, even if the AI features were no longer there.
