There is absolutely nothing on the planet that will instantly bring more joy, depth, and meaning to your life than having a son or daughter for the first time. The only thing that surprised me is how much more powerful the experience has been than I expected. Go make babies.
One of my favorite stats of all time: Rodger Federer won just 54% of points during his career.
Put another way, he only won ~4 more points out of every 100 than he lost.
Federer turned a +4% point edge into 20 Grand Slam titles
You don’t win by winning 100% of the points. You win with small edges that compound over time.
When your working life rewards you, it’s easy to ratchet up the complexity: homes, cars, travel, possessions etc.
I have found that all that complexity comes at the sake of your most fleeting asset: your time. Instead of building things, all of a sudden you’re dealing with minutiae and logistics. Instead of talking mostly to engineers, you’re talking mostly to non-engineers. The building stops…the business of managing self inflicted complexity begins.
It’s worth noting that the best players in the game (Buffett, Elon) have kept their life extremely basic, almost monastic/nomadic, as success ratcheted them ever higher.
I think it’s the biggest secret hiding in plain sight:
When the world upgrades your status, downgrade your complexity.
BREAKING: Inside Opendoor w/ CEO Kaz Nejatian
On earnings day, @nejatian opened the doors to Sourcery to go under the hood of the public turnaround of a company once trading at ~$0.50 & facing delisting risk
6 months in.
$1 salary.
Up to $2.8B in performance equity.
All gas, no brakes
I toured the office, sat in on a product meeting, BTS of the livestream, & recorded our long-form interview where Kaz shares openly how they’re rebuilding @Opendoor in public
(with the help of the $OPEN army, of course)
This was unlike anything I'd ever seen before.
Big thank you to the Opendoor team for letting me in!

$OPEN: why I still think this can be TRILLION dollar company — and how it actually gets there. Not hype. A roadmap. 🧵👇
If Opendoor cracks real-estate liquidity through tokenization, the upside isn’t 10x. It’s generational.
One of my favorite lessons I’ve learnt from working with smart people:
Action produces information. If you’re unsure of what to do, just do anything, even if it’s the wrong thing. This will give you information about what you should actually be doing.
Sounds simple on the surface - the hard part is making it part of your every day working process.
i think tokenized home ownership is <5~years out from being normalized
bet i’m willing to take: the platform that wins it will probably look like a social network
