It doesn't matter whether you agree on what a critical disengagement is or not. To answer the question, you only need to agree on whether or not the streak score encourages people to disengage more often or less often regardless of the individuals subjective preferences. Certainly isn't zero/neutral or else there would be no point to displaying it prominently!

Is it possible there was a bad "good" diagnosis of the repeater camera? An intermittent camera issue might be difficult to detect, but could also cause it to be rejected by the AP computer as unreliable.

Separately, and hopefully not related - do you know if their car has the "amber light bleed" versions of the repeater cameras? These weren't totally phased out until sometime in 2022. An upgrade to newer cameras available after 2022 (~$400) might be worth considering to eliminate a possible faulty cam while correcting a known quality issue.

@carpetron_d @ChuckCook @Tesla @elonmusk I would take it as far as including hw2 as well. An upgraded hw4 computer on a modern chipset form factor will be small and adaptable enough to likely fit in any of the vehicles as long as wiring harness issues can be overcome.

My thought? Tesla legal has known for some time that any original owners of 2016 or newer vehicles would likely have grounds for a class action. Meanwhile, incentives and lip service have been given to get those owners to move on. Here in 2026, it's realized that getting more FSD revenue generating vehicles on the road while addressing OG owners valid complaints are complimentary incentives to move forward with an upgrade plan.

@invizevil @TheRundownAI Manufactured compute to the highest bidder was likely always the goal. Using unsold capacity for half baked internal projects just keeps things humming and is a somewhat smart use of idle assets.
