@atmoio Deepseek has already aggressively targeted more AI efficiency and while yeah sure V4 Pro is not Claude Mythos level, it’s still sold though. When has technology not gotten better and more efficient over time. I think this is also denying reality
@atmoio I agree with some of your criticisms of AI, but this just sounds like cope. Everyone is predicting some pop or correction. I don’t think enough people are mentally prepared for the possibility that AI is NOT a bubble if anything.
@f4micom Never connect a TV to the internet. Always use a standalone system. TVs have gotten dirt cheap to produce and buy, so they need other ways to come up with more revenue and Smart TVs were always just a way to feed advertising surveillance
@bee_fumo This would also help Linux continue to eat into Microsoft’s gaming market since Microsoft makes it clear all the time they don’t care that much about it. There’s nothing but upside for Valve to do this. They just need to focus
@bee_fumo Valve should make SteamOS the best possible game OS experience for consumers & devs. Licensing the OS to other vendors will help the market create cheaper Steam machines, Valve still gets their cut & can own the premium market. They’re underutilizing their strong platform lock in
@umbrel I use and like Ubuntu Server & AlmaLinux as I just prefer the manual way of doing things but I really like what you guys are doing for noobs and trying to make self hosting more mainstream/approachable to the average consumer so I will buy an Umbrel Home soon for the sake of it
@scaling01 I actually as an American fully support EU & other aligned countries to become more independent for this reason. I have no clue what they were thinking long term to hedge so much on the US given that for the last 40 or so years we’ve become more and more politically unstable
@scaling01 America is an empire trying to desperately hold onto its most valuable assets that are constantly being threatened to be eaten from within and the outside. Also life is and always will be unfair. The best bet for the EU and others is to just learn/know their place or put out
A fresh Brave install in 2026: sponsored ad wallpapers on new tab page by default (opt out). Brave VPN, News, Talk, Leo (AI), Rewards and other revenue-milking bloat is advertised/pinned by default. Analytics and "phoning home" by default. Google as default search engine in most regions by default. Sponsored search engines like Russian Yandex in CIS countries by default: https://t.co/nCK7ZErytG
Brave has an ad branch that handles advertising within the browser: https://t.co/EwJwKKgWxq. Brave does on-device ad targeting based on cohorts and interests, just like what Chrome used to do and what Google was largely hated for (remember FLoC?). This applies to additional (opt-in) rewarded ads, shipped as part of Brave.
Brave has injected referral IDs to crypto-related URLs entered into the omnibox in the past, intentionally, by design:

Brave also uses dark patterns to drive users away from turning off ads in their browser. For example, an article linked from the "opt out" button in the browser has a wall of text making excuses for ads before the actual steps needed to be taken to disable them: https://t.co/dka1EIMtbw
kind of hypocritical for brave to judge firefox for lesser bullshit, don't you think?
@RichardBSpencer The day someone turns 18 they should be assigned to a boomer they need to take care of, without pay of course because these lazy idiots need to learn the value of hard work.
@ernielm Don’t think people realize how tone deaf saying this is. They are poor economic migrants that we are taking advantage of selling a false “American dream”. Also with AI + robotics these manual labor repetitive tasks are about to become obsolete and we will have to deal with that.
@umbrel Self hosting has gotten so easy too. It doesn’t take much to set up and you can buy a used cheap PC if you’re tight on money. Everyone should be doing this for sure
