Final day of @levelsio 's #vibejam ! Thanks to Levels & team for organizing what was such a fun journey.
Thoughts & inspiration below, but here's a short part about my game first:
Crit The Beat, the Guitar Hero like rhythm game I built, is live with 9 tracks, 27 songs & 2 bosses! Couldn't complete the roguelike version of it because I had to focus on work and kids too much during the last week, but vibe coding it was a blast. I know it's kind of a niche genre, but there are some beginner friendly tracks. You can give it a try, check the teaser below!
Here are some thoughts:
I'm a 37yr old freelance creative director in advertising, specializing in AI, gaming, XR and innovative mediums overall with some of the coolest brands in the world.
I love my job and I'm amazed by what AI is bringing to the creative table. Some people are afraid of creativity being replaced, but what I see is creativity being multiplied by using AI as a tool.
I'm just blown away by what's feasible right now. The 17yr old me would have been doing this nonstop for months. Anyone curious can literally create their dream game or app. There's no point in history where someone could produce this amount of creative work in such a short time. I'm very curious where all of this is headed, but I'm convinced some of the best pieces of entertainment of all time will emerge from this.
I could/should have been more active on social, but this is ironically the hardest part for me. I've been lurking a lot though.
It was a pleasure seeing awesome projects being built from the ground up.
Can't wait to see which games @levelsio@s13k_@timsoret & @NicolaManzini will pick but the competition is fierce.

@denisbondare HALADANE-4 is brilliant, the vibe for an horror ASCII is through the roof and I loved reading his takes on the project
@andreeliasdev Visual progress on his game has been stunning too, imagine the possibilities with more time.
@NicolasZu 's Zombie game looks awesome too, not a Vibejam submission but really shows us how far vibe coding a game can go, looking forward to the release
@dvassallo and his son created one of the most viral game of the jam: Full send, and it's super fun to play
And finally @chongdashu who has been an amazing source of tips and knowledge

@NicolasZu Been noticing this too, for my rhythm game I’ve ended up creating a tool to setup the ui, look dev on 3D models, level design, track design and adjustments and many debug mini tools. Also this workflow puts back maximum creativity in our hands which is awesome.

Today was a big day, the game is almost ready for a small public alpha build. If you want to try it, feel free to interact & share, we need more eyes and players here!
Here's a video of me completing a run from the start screen, i'm getting pretty good at it. 😀
Done:
• Started switching monsters from 2D to 3D with @tripoai , look at the skeleton run
• Implemented lots of small tweaks to the game screen to make it feel cool and dynamic
• Added stats, achievements and a revamped ranking system
• Finally nailed the perfect sync workflow from music generation on @suno to in game integration, so you press the buttons exactely on the beats. Feels good.
• Added a hard mode for each track
Coming next:
• Finalize the remaining tracks, monsters and environment assets
• Add the portal
• Optimize all the assets
• Prepare public alpha build

Already one of the most played games in the Vibe Jam (yes we can track it :D), and I think one of the most fun ones I've seen, you keep playing because the physics just work really well, you shoot grappling hooks around and swing from building to building, really superfun

Day #6 working on "Crit the Beat" for for @levelsio 's #vibejam
The core gameplay is here and it's really fun, next will be creating some content and feedback gameloops so it's rewarding, I have hundreds of ideas so super excited about this.
Done yesterday:
✅ Fun little polish on the game's UI & Art Direction
✅ Created a bot to play the levels to finetune them, on the video's is the actual hardest level setting as of now
✅Optimized the sync engine
✅Worked on 3 different environements for the future levels: Graveyard, Clock & Voodoo Jungle
Coming next:
✍️ Portal integration
✍️ First live build for tests
✍️ Thinking of multiplayer + visual lobby
✍️ Content, content, content

@DannyLimanseta@levelsio Thanks Danny, spent so many years playing rythm game when I was younger. Would love to have your feedback on difficulty when I release an alpha build, i'd like the learning curve to be too steep.
