More than a third of all carbon emissions ever produced in the entire history of humanity have been produced since @GretaThunberg was born. She recently turned 16.
By 2026, most of humanity will:
1. live with severe water stress
2. fear unprecedented heatwaves
3. be at risk from deadly diseases
4. be affected by extreme weather
5. suffer hunger/famine/starvation
6. consider relocating due to climate
No, this couldn't be true.
Could it?
Just your morning reminder that disdain for women's bodies and disdain for the earth are deeply connected. Both remind idiotic baby men like Bolsonaro and Trump that they are part of web of interdependent life and not the lone heroic figures pretend to be. Topple it all.
Thank you @JayInslee for changing the entire political conversation around climate. I'm sad to see you leave the Presidential race, but I'm looking forward to working with you again! The youth climate movement thanks you, & like @MichaelEMann, we'll send you your certificate!
When #NotreDame, an old building in France caught on fire, every major media outlet was covering it.
Right now the #AmazonRainforest, the LUNGS of our planet, are burning, I don't see any mainstream coverage at all.
Where are our priorities?

One million species to go extinct 'within decades' | News | Al Jazeera
> A helpful summary by scientists of WHY: “An "unprecedented" one million species will die out >because of the relentless pursuit of economic growth<”.
Think about that... https://t.co/5pcQl1a1KD
Many children today will live to see the year 2100, and we will get to see the results of our changes, or the consequences of our inaction.
Should the climate crisis go unaddressed, wars caused by mass migration & starvation could wipe our species out.
Our politicians must act.
Can anyone explain why saving Bankers jobs and several banks and insurance companies was 100% correct for Tories yet British Steel and Ferguson Marine being saved is just so wrong?
Too late. We're crossing the threshold.
'The world is close to reaching tipping points that will make it irreversibly hotter, making this decade* critical in efforts to contain global warming, scientists warned'
*140 days left.
(see end of article 😠).

The correct "12 years" claim: We have 10 yrs, 5 months, 4 days until we must cut global emissions in half for a 50/50 chance to stay under 1.5°C of mean global heating according to IPCC SR1.5
Many scientists, including me, feel this underestimates irreversible global change
