I’ve been rewatching obsession and I can’t stop thinking about the morning after the wish. Specifically, the moment Bear walks into the living room and sees what Nikki did to the front door.

At first, it plays like an uncomfortable, almost absurd scene: Bear standing there in his work clothes, staring at a door that’s been frantically barricaded from the inside. But the more I think about it, the more it feels like the exact moment the film fully shifts into psychological horror.

What was Nikki actually trying to do?

Was she subconsciously trapping Bear so he could never leave her? Or was the wish forcing her to “protect” him from the outside world because her obsession had already consumed her?

What fascinates me even more is Bear’s reaction. He doesn’t panic. He doesn’t stop to think, “Something is seriously wrong here.” He just… accepts it.

Was he really that blinded by finally having the “perfect girlfriend” that he ignored such an obvious red flag? Or was this the moment he realized his wish had gone horribly wrong but was too desperate to admit it?

To me, this scene marks the point where the movie stops being about a clingy girlfriend and becomes a full-blown psychological nightmare.

How did you interpret Nikki barricading the front door? Was she trying to keep Bear safe… or was she already turning the house into a cage?
