@BozoProzo If everyone decided not to be a doctor, there’d be no doctors, and that would be bad. Therefore, every single person should be a doctor. No police, no engineers, no farmers, no mothers. Just doctors!
@teachrobotslove This is why I’ve always hated that “If it’s not a ‘hell, yes!’ it’s a ‘no’” slogan. There are so many amazing things I’d have missed out on if I’d followed that advice.
@CartoonsHateHer that day. But guess what? She went to college, got married, had kids, and laughed about it at the reunion. Memory is more forgiving than you think. And there’s no path to universal approval, so you might as well have fun and do what you want. 2/2
@CartoonsHateHer In my high school senior year, a classmate won a contest to see the Seinfeld finale filming. She was shown on the news doing the “Elaine dance” (which was actually totally appropriate for the event) and she got made fun of so bad when she got back that she cried and went home 1/2
@Romy_Holland Don’t worry, they’re fixing this with technology. Soon all older people will have a robot companion to take care of and listen to them, and they won’t bother you anymore. By the way, have you tried introducing your MIL to Claude?
@IterIntellectus But you’ll be living in a world that is, for some reason, ruled over by a killer button-machine, and somehow everyone just goes along with it. Why is everyone so eager to cooperate with this either way?
@waitbutwhy It also depends on the assumption that people think death is the worst outcome. And in a world where most people *claim* to believe in heaven, that’s interesting.
@waitbutwhy Dismantle the machine. If humankind as a whole reached the point where they’d allow this to happen, there is no moral high ground for anyone to claim. (But maybe that’s the point.)
@OBmatios@romanhelmetguy What doesn’t make sense? There are plenty of women that want to have kids, and if a man wants to have kids, too, he should focus on those women instead of obsessing over women who don’t.
@DegenRepellent@romanhelmetguy If an individual who wants children is spending more time on X complaining than seeking out and engaging with potential partners that also want children, it is absolutely their fault. “The men” have nothing to do with it, most adult men are fathers.
@Enscion25 (And you probably saw a follow-up comment I made carrying the analogy further, but I deleted it because I realize it might seem offensive. However, I do think that since access to these digital minds costs money, there is a consumer mindset attached to them.)
@Enscion25 I know it’s definitely more than just a product, which makes their frustration even more understandable. But it seems like some people are sticking to OpenAI even if the new model doesn’t fit them—why? The only explanation I can think of is brand loyalty.
