Why is the government not telling Canadians the full story about the BC ostrich cull? We deserve transparency on why nearly 400 healthy birds are still set to be killed.

Here’s what we know:

A farm in BC had an avian flu outbreak starting in late 2024, and by December and January, 69 ostriches died.

The CFIA then ordered the cull of all 400 birds.

The farm, supported by RFK Jr., argues the birds have recovered, shedding is unlikely to last a year, and they pose no threat to the Canadian poultry trade. They asked for independent testing, but lost in court, though the Supreme Court paused the cull for now.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says culling the birds is needed to stop spread to animals or humans, following international guidelines, and to protect Canada’s poultry trade from restrictions.

Canadians aren’t asking for special treatment — we’re asking for transparency. The public deserves to know the full facts: what the real risks are, what science supports the decision to destroy these birds, and how keeping this recovered flock alive would actually affect Canada’s ability to sell poultry abroad.

If the government truly believes that these ostriches pose a threat to our trade or to public health, then it should be able to clearly explain how — with evidence, not secrecy. Until then, the lack of clarity only undermines public trust.

At the heart of this issue is something bigger than one farm — it’s about accountability, honesty, and the right of Canadians to know the truth about decisions made in their name.

Yesterday was my first meeting with my new probation officer. She seemed fair and efficient. We simply reviewed the conditions set out by the judge for my house arrest. I was hoping to be able to drop off and pick up my grandsons from school but apparently that request will have to go to a judge under a variation application, so we’ll just leave everything as is for now.

Next week I’m headed back in for an interview for her to assess the level of risk I pose to reoffend. It sounds like it’ll basically be a questionnaire to assess my mental state and any dangers I may pose to society.

She informed me of the consequences should I breach these conditions and I am not to leave the house, even for the approved ‘necessities of life’ without contacting her to let her know where I’ll be and for how long. She will then provide a letter stating I have been granted permission to be out in society. I’m to have my papers on my person at all times and ready to produce should I be pulled over or seen by law enforcement out and about.

She was kind enough to print me off a letter yesterday before I left so I could stop at the optometrist and dentist offices on my way home.

My official date of release is Jan. 21, 2027, 1799 days after my initial arrest.

There is a fine line between politics and the judiciary, as there should be, and I have long understood the uncomfortable position elected officials find themselves in when it comes to commenting on cases that are before the court.

In our case, the double standard and the vindictive nature from the prosecution office has become too obvious to ignore and will set a precedent going forward that will affect all Canadians who choose to peacefully protest or deter them from exercising their Charter Right to peacefully assemble.

This past weekend, the deadline passed for Canada to reject the World Health Organization (WHO) amendments to the International Health Regulations.

Canada did not reject these binding regulations, which would grant power to the WHO to influence Canada’s public health response during global health crises.

Not only did Canada fail to reject these amendments, there was also no Parliamentary discussion surrounding these changes, which have potential implications for our national sovereignty and our ability to respond as we see fit in times of crisis.

Countries such as the USA and Italy have rejected these amendments to protect their national sovereignty.

Canada, however, has doubled down. Canada has not only accepted these bidding regulations but also appointed an interim Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Howard Njoo, who is the Vice-Chair of the WHO Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Framework Advisory Group.

Canadians deserve a government that cares about protecting our national sovereignty. Unelected international bureaucrats do not know better than Canadians, and should not have authority over how Canada governs.

They are seeking a 7 year prison sentence for myself and 8 years for @ChrisBarber1975

The Federal Court of Appeal has directed that the challenge to former Prime Minister Trudeau’s decision to prorogue Parliament for 11 weeks will go to a full hearing.

The Court will not preliminarily dismiss the challenge on the issue of mootness. That issue will be decided at full hearing.
