Some of my glaring red flags or "tells" with regard to the present national dialogue around Israel.

To start with, 90% of the foreign-policy criticism and fire presently in the public space is directed toward and reserved for one nation (Israel) while far worse abusers continue to get a complete pass. Why is this?

Legitimate critics direct their criticism fairly/widely. When one nation is fixated upon, that's a clear tell. Not all who are engaging in this discussion are fixated, but they are falling into the trap of those who do hate Israel who have made it the nation discussion.

Folks expect Israel to defend itself with zero civilian harm, they are never allowed to make any preemptive attacks to defend themselves. These demands are never applied to any other democracy fighting terrorists. A “principle” that only applies to one people isn’t a principle, its predjudice.

"The Lord detests unequal weights and measures."

Why are the Zoomers and others obsessed with Israel not applying their rules to Turkey or India? Why utter silence about these brazen violators?

Every Israeli action is framed as proof of guilt. They cannot win. It’s a rigged game that manufactures condemnation no matter what they do. When both doing and not doing the same thing are both condemned, this means the verdict was written before the evidence. Remember: On October 8, there were already literally 100,000s of people in the streets of London, NYC, and other global capital cities condemning Israel. They made up their mind before Israel had even figured out what just happened to them.

Then there is the endless conspiracy laundering through “Just Asking Questions." Epstein/Mossad, secret control of Congress, and other recycled tropes are always floated as “open questions” that again, are never applied to any other nation. Classic conspiratorial rumor-as-argument. It's bigotry that hides behind a thin veneer of curiosity.

Everyone fixates on the "Israel Lobby" but the truth is this is a drop in the bucket compared to for example the Saudi Lobby. No one talks about this because everyone is on their payrole. The Bush family alone has pocketed over half a billion dollars from the Saudis. The Clinton Foundation received over 33 million before Hillary ran several years back. No one says a thing. IN fairness, every nation lobbies, but for some reason, it's always about Israel. Why is this?

On a popular level, endless reels of Gaza's suffering with near silence or indifference about Oct-7 mass murder, hostages, rockets, and the outright genocidal charter of Hamas. Jewish trauma is always a footnote, outright dismissed, or even framed as a provocation and deserved. If one's empathy turns off when the victim is Jewish, then that is a big fat tell that its not about human rights, it’s about a target.

Anyway, I could go on and on and on. I find that many of the comments that kids are asking are entirely reasonable, but the question is why is this even the discussion? The Bible said all of this would happen. Yes, God is allowing it. He is sovereign after all. But the question no one seems to be asking is who is the real entity and provocateur behind it all?

I support Israel not primarily because of my eschatology, but because my faith calls me to love my neighbors and contend for justice.

First, the Jewish people are the single most consistently persecuted minority people in human history. From ancient to modern genocides, they have been hunted, hated, and murdered more than any other minority people group in the world. They have suffered in ways few can comprehend. Tragically, much of this pain has come at the hands of professing Christians. Recognizing this glaring fact of history is a part of what it means to be aware of reality, to "read the room" at this moment in history.

Most Jews are aware of the long history of Christian mistreatment of Jews. Most Christians have no idea. Christianity's selective memory / historical amnesia doesn't just fuel misunderstanding, it allows unrepentant sins to continue and even be repeated.

My support for Israel is a practical extension of my Christian faith that calls us to defend the poor, the marginalized, and the oppressed. To care about justice is to care about those suffering injustice.

Now hear me clearly: Palestinian children are just as precious as Jewish children. Their suffering is real, and it breaks my heart. Their pain, however, stems from their own corrupt leaders who have consistently chosen to trade offers of peace for toxic ideologies, particularly the more racist aspects of Islamic eschatology and Islamic replacement theology. A theological vision that seeks to carry out a genocide against the Jewish people causes everyone involved to suffer.

This brings me to theology. Any version of “Replacement Theology” (whether it's called Fulfillment Theology or Inclusion Theology) that erases Israel’s future is structural antisemitism. This doesn't mean that everyone who adheres to these systems hates Jews. Many are sincere, but sincerity does not sanctify error. To erase the Jewish people’s identity, purpose, and covenantal destiny is to do what no other form of racism dares: claim that God Himself has rejected an entire ethnic people.

That is theological racism. It is Christianity's longest and most pervasive unrepentant sin. I will have no part in it.
