अश्याप्रकारची मानसिकता लोकशाही सा���ी घातक आहे. लोकशाही आणि संविधानाने प्रतेकाला अधिकार दिला आहे निवडणूक लढवन्याचा. एक दोन विशिष्ट पक्ष सत्ता उपभोगणार ही वृत्तीच मुळात सरंजामी आहे. आठवण नसेल तर करुन देतो शिवसेना २५ वर्ष एका पक्षासोबत सत्तेत होता तेंव्हा उपद्रव नव्हता वाटला?

आज अकोला (महाराष्ट्र) में मुझ पर और भारत जोड़ो अभियान के साथियों पर जो हमला हुआ वह हर लोक���ंत्रप्रेमी के लिए गंभीर चिंता का विषय है। भारत जोड़ो अभियान के विदर्भ दौरे के तहत हम “संविधान की रक्षा और हमारा वोट” विषय पर सम्मेलन कर रहे थे, तो मुझे बोलने से रोकने के लिए 40-50 लोगों की भीड़ मंच पर चढ़ गई और मेरी ओर बढ़ी। हम बैठे रहे और स्थानीय साथियों ने घेरा बनाकर हमारी रक्षा की। पुलिस के आने के बाद भी हुड़दंगाइयों का आक्रमण और तोड़ फोड़ जारी रहे। सभा वहीं समाप्त हो गई।

पिछले 25 वर्षों में महाराष्ट्र के अनेक स्थानों पर व्याख्यान दिए हैं, लेकिन ऐसा पहले कभी नहीं हुआ। यह न सिर्फ महाराष्ट्र बल्कि संविधान और लोकतंत्र में विश्वास रखने वालों के लिए भी दुखद है। यह घटना हमारे लोकतंत्र की रक्षा के प्रति समर्पण को और भी मजबूत करती है।

जो भी मेरे बोलने से डरा हुआ है वो सुन ले — मैं वापिस अकोला आऊँगा!

The Review Petition would be filed, today, by Supreme Court lawyer Pratik Bombarde of the Justice Gavai’s judgement allowing creamy layer and sub-classification within Scheduled Castes (SCs).

Extensive discussions were held on the content of the Review Petition.

• The judgement has been silent on the parameters to measure the backwardness of different castes within the Scheduled Castes;

• EV Chinnaiah holds ground even though the 7-judge bench of the Supreme Court(by 6-1) held that sub-classification of Scheduled Castes is permissible for the simple reason that this judgement is against Article 14, and

• Beneficiaries of reservation are not just SCs, STs and OBCs but those belonging to the General Category as well. If only the SC category (historically disadvantaged) is classified, it violates the principle of equality enshrined and does not do just justice for every citizen under Article 14 of the Constitution.

The Judiciary needs representation first!

The Judiciary are passing judgements on the marginalised and discriminated castes (reserved categories) and patting themselves on their back but when they will look into their own den and realise there is no representation in the Judiciary. Or, the fact that there is backwardness among the upper-castes and there should be a classification within the general category!
Why this hypocrisy?

The affirmative policy for SCs and STs is NOT an economic alleviation policy but a weapon of social justice. The Dalits were excluded and were not a part of administration and not recruited in the military. The affirmative policy is meant to set right the injustice meted out to the oppressed!

Also, I ask the Dalits to seek accountability from the so-called Dalit loving parties (BJP and Congress) who have welcomed the decision of classification with the SCs.

When there is not even a proper implementation of the reservation policy in any of the government institutions, the Supreme Court decision has come without any substantial proof and validation. We must resist.
