I'm deeply disturbed by the lack of outrage from Western journalists & the US government re: Israel's killing of Shireen Abu Akleh.
It reinforces what we as Palestinians have long felt: that there is little regard for our humanity.
All local struggles are connected — from Palestine to Colombia, U.S. to India.
And when supremacist violence is carried out by those chanting words of Torah, we feel even more responsible to speak out. Our hearts are with Palestinians resisting Israeli occupation tonight.
New Zealand police released the first 5 confirmed names of 50 people killed last week in shootings at 2 mosques:
- Hati Mohemmed Daoud Nabi, 71
- Mohsen Mohammed Al Harbi, 63
- Kamel Moh’d Kamal Kamel Darwish, 38
- Junaid Ismail, 36
- Mucaad Ibrahim, 3
We will not be silenced.
We will not be threatened.
We will continue going to mosques.
We will stand together.
Our faith will grow stronger.
As Allah is out protector, and he is the best of helpers.

Australia and New Zealand’s legacy of white supremacy, coupled with an unchecked Islamophobic political and media landscape, were contributing factors to the Christchurch attacks according to analysts
