@SchsOrg السلام عليكم،

📢 Exciting findings from our latest study at the Saudi Critical Care Pharmacy Research (SCAPE) Platform @SCAPE_Platform titled "Survival implications vs. complications: unraveling the impact of vitamin D adjunctive use in critically ill patients with COVID-19—A multicenter cohort study"!
We investigated the use of vitamin D as adjunctive therapy in critically ill patients with COVID-19 and delved into its potential effects on survival outcomes. Our findings shed light on the benefits and complications associated with this treatment approach.
Contrary to expectations, our study revealed that the use of vitamin D as adjunctive therapy did not show significant survival benefits in COVID-19 critically ill patients. This finding provides valuable insights into the effectiveness of vitamin D supplementation in this particular patient population. However, our research did uncover some important associations. We found that the use of vitamin D was linked to prolonged mechanical ventilation duration, increased length of stay in the intensive care unit (ICU), and higher odds of major bleeding. These findings raise considerations regarding the potential complications that can arise from the use of vitamin D in critically ill COVID-19 patients.
These results emphasize the need for careful evaluation and understanding of the risks and benefits associated with adjunctive vitamin D therapy in this specific context. As we continue to explore treatment options for COVID-19, it becomes increasingly crucial to analyze the potential implications of therapies comprehensively.
We would like to express our gratitude to the participating centers and the dedicated @SCAPE_Platform investigators who contributed to this multicenter cohort study. Your collaboration has been instrumental in advancing our knowledge and informing clinical decision-making.
