CIC Gen @KagutaMuseveni was filmed participating in marksmanship drills with UPDF instructors, demonstrating continued focus on operational readiness.
Leadership by example.
PHOTOS: Uganda Prisons Service has passed out a total of 58 officers: 48 male and 10 female, who successfully completed the Prisons Intermediate Command and Staff Course. According to Mary Centenary, the Acting Commander of the Prisons Academy and Training School, the course is part of a deliberate professionalisation plan for the Prisons’ human resource, aimed at equipping officers with the skills needed to meet the current demands of the service.

The uniform isn’t just fabric. It’s a daily oath to protect strangers as family. Uganda sleeps because her sons and daughters choose duty over comfort. We see you. We honor you.
Their duty starts where our comfort begins.Every salute hides stories of missed birthdays, sleepless nights, and unspoken courage.
To every officer in uniform, thank you for standing guard when the rest of us simply stand by. 🇺🇬
We thank you. 🙏🏾🇺🇬

With profound joy and heartfelt gratitude, I am delighted to formally announce the birth of our twin sons: Prince William Ethan Nadiope and Prince Arnold Eli Nadiope, born on the 27th day of August 2025.
The arrival of the newborns marks a deeply cherished milestone in our family’s journey, and we are overwhelmed and humbled by the magnitude of this double blessing. Both newborns, along with their remarkable mother, are in high spirits and excellent health.
We give thanks to Almighty God for His blessings and abundant grace and for ushering us into this new chapter as a family of four. The outpouring of love, goodwill and prayers from all our friends and well-wishers has been profoundly uplifting, and we remain sincerely appreciative of your continued support.
We look forward to the opportunity to introduce our sons to you in due course.
May God’s blessings be upon you all.
Busoga Okwisania N'amanhi.
109 Senior Prisons Officers Sworn in as Justices of Peace
Presiding over the ceremony on behalf of the Chief Justice of Uganda @JudiciaryUG, Her Worship Kisakye Mary Kaitesi, Registrar of Magistrates Affairs and Data Management, congratulated the officers on their achievement and challenged them to embrace their new responsibilities. She highlighted the importance of conducting extra-judicial work with diligence and a firm grasp of legal frameworks.
“You must remain conversant with the Magistrates Act and standing orders. All applications of law must comply with the Constitution of Uganda and the Prisons Act, she noted.
Her Worship Kisakye also commended the Uganda Prisons Service for its consistent cooperation with judicial bodies and for being a key player in the Criminal Justice System. She lauded the service for its organizational efficiency, particularly in managing daily inmate lock-ups and unlocks across various units.
109 senior prisons officers at the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP) were today sworn in as Justices of Peace (JPs) at the Judiciary Headquarters in Kampala. This milestone grants them judicial powers to enhance justice delivery and uphold discipline within the Uganda Prisons Service (UPS).
The newly sworn-in officers now share powers and duties similar to those of magistrates, enabling them to perform tasks such as administering oaths and affirmations, taking affidavits, attesting to signatures, and certifying copies of documents on behalf of the government. Within the prison setting, they will also preside over orderly room disciplinary procedures, a key measure to maintain discipline among both staff and inmates.
The magnificent new All Saints Cathedral, Nakasero, is set to be consecrated this morning at 9:00 AM.
Uganda Prisons Service is proud to have contributed to this sacred project @allsaintskla. Skilled inmates have crafted high-quality, durable furniture for the cathedral's altar, including the podium, pulpit, executive bishop's chair, choir section, clergy seats, VIP section, president's chair, baptism pool, and fully furnished clergy changing rooms.
This achievement showcases their potential for rehabilitation and reintegration.
His Excellency, the President of Uganda @KagutaMuseveni, is expected to grace the occasion with his presence, adding value to this momentous event.
UPS is honored to be part of this community effort, reflecting a commitment to corporate social responsibility. The Commissioner General of Prisons @jbyabs and top leadership will be present to witness this historic milestone.
Join us in celebrating this spiritual achievement and supporting the work of our inmates.

Inmates undergo vocational skilling in various areas, including:
- Carpentry
- Agriculture
- Tailoring
- Leatherwork
- Craftsmanship
These skills are put into practice to produce our wide range of products, including:
- Stunning furniture pieces for home and office
- High-yielding maize seeds for farmers
- Vibrant office flags to boost your brand
- Refreshing liquid soap
- Unique hand crafts
- Durable leather products for everyday use
The Prisons institution in my view has 4 tasks:
- Reform the prisoners
- Skill them, so that when they get out of prison they have skills they didn’t have when they went to prison
- Punish according to the sentencing law
- Participate in the effort of wealth creation through production
In doing all this, they must fight corruption. It is a disgrace and a big waste of public resources.
I congratulate the new Cadet Assistant Superintendents of Prisons, Cadet Principal Officers and Recruit Warders and Wardresses . I wish them good health, hunger to acquire more knowledge, and to have the spirit of patriotism.
