@SahaiAakash@SaichandLakkak1@sreedhari_desai Yeah I'll agree @SahaiAakash, morality is more about the society than about an individual, whereas the "fraud triangle" is about an individual. We can rationalize & indulge in things that are moral too: like sleeping again in the morning after turning the damn alarm off! #ISBRL
@drsurabhi2023 Indeed it's the most "crucial"
Pressure or opportunity may come first, one leading to lookout for another, it's the moment one is able to rationalize their actions is when one indulges!
Think how we rationalize deciding to sleep again in the morning! 🤣
#ISBRL@sreedhari_desai
@rishikarathi7@sreedhari_desai If I understood anything, the whole point of the course was to try and determine what that "right" path is 🤣
But well said 😌
#ISBRL
@Ayush853Goel@sreedhari_desai Why not consider the "unhappiness" caused by the lighting connectors for users?
I think it's much more than just ethics here. Fitting approaches to each decision probably isn't possible or required. Prof anyway said that the two approaches converge in the long run.
#ISBRL
@SonaliK628 While media trials have become a norm in India now, the ease of sharing opinions on social media takes it a step further.
I agree that it's quite unfair to treat any fellow human-being this way. I don't see any perceived benefit other than entertainment!
#ISBRL@sreedhari_desai
@mohitakg23@sreedhari_desai Is it even possible for all three to coexist? Isn't it as theoretical an exactly same mean, median & mode for a random sample distribution?
On the misuse part: The recent #JohnnyDeppVsAmberHeardTrial is a good example of how misuse can discredit the safeguards for equity! #ISBRL
@thechromeart Neither from a Formalist approach nor Utilitarian...
But not everything can probably be seen from the same lens? The bullying was unacceptable but he cared too!
While we humans try to be logical, reasonable & rational beings we're quite emotional, excitable & irrational! #ISBRL
@teja_gadamsetti True...
With tech moving much faster than the rest of the world, so much so that even the users are struggling to keep up, the lawmakers and institutions have been left far behind.
It'd be interesting tho if "Diamond cuts Diamond" comes true for tech 🤔
#ISBRL@sreedhari_desai
@iadityasomani@sreedhari_desai It's actually very difficult to have a balanced approach all the time. Trying to be moral at all times may hurt people in their personal lives and so at best they try to be diplomatic to believe that they did their best so that they can move on! #ISBRL
@aacha_to_mar@sreedhari_desai Since you've quoted Steve Jobs
Taking example of iPhone, the messaging was truthful, coming from a very authentic source, nudging the audience towards a useful product, all while being very respectful.
So I believe it was not unethical at all! #ISBRL@sreedhari_desai
@atichintak Oh there's a great @theofficetv episode where Holly holds a Business Ethics Seminar at workplace. They discuss many concepts including time theft & taking stuff from office.
Added bonus fun stuff when they discuss their "ethical dilemmas"!
#ISBRL@sreedhari_desai
Finally justice for #JohnnyDepp.
Seeing his lawyers use techniques like forcing emotions over logic during cross-examinations and Aristotle's Appeals, primacy & recency effects during closing arguments for the Jury were great learnings for us too.
@sreedhari_desai#ISBRL 🍿🥳😌
@harsh2306 @blackmirror@sreedhari_desai Yeah... Then there would be a huge conflict isn't it? Nothing would be moral at all, by either approach. We'd be using others as a means to improve our ratings, act not out of duty but personal inclinations and probably do things that don't increase overall happiness 🤔 #ISBRL
@harsh2306 Interesting use of tech to ensure that people dispense their duties perfectly. Sounds like strict formalism tho.
Also reminds me of the @blackmirror episode Nosedive. Would it be ok to use tech to ensure that people act morally in their daily behaviour? #ISBRL@sreedhari_desai
@parularora92 True... Unlike olden days, nowadays there's usually a backstory for the antagonists too. The character is developed to humanize them enough that empathize with them. Just like how Michael was shown as a good person in @theofficetv, season 2 onwards #ISBRL@sreedhari_desai
