We are being told that CO2 levels must be kept below 350ppm or we will all starve!
Yet commercial growers lift greenhouse CO2 to between 600-1000 ppm because that produces better quality and higher yields.
Question everything!
I still cannot get over how cheap basic life is in China. Basic life = rent + food + utilities.
For example, Serbia's annual GDP per capita is around $9,000. I am not going to compare it to China--I always say comparing any European country to China is like comparing GDP of my family to the GDP Germany, nonsensical. But let's compare it to Qingdao, a Tier-2 city in China. Qingdao's population of 9 million is in the same category as Serbia's 6.8 million.
Qingdao's GDP per capita is about $18,000 USD (nominal!). This BTW is quite a bit higher than China's average today of about $12,000.
My monthly utilities (everything: building management, electricity, water, gas, heating, internet/phone/cable TV, etc, everything) in Qingdao is less than 1000 CNY which is $136 USD.
In Serbia, those same items monthly run at $200.
Serbia is considered cheap (and poor) to most of Europe.
In the image below you can see that in nominal terms Qingdao would fall somewhere around Hungary and Poland.
I would guess that on PPP (purchasing power parity) anything in China would get a much higher boost and would get Qingdao to the level of Portugal or Czechia. In other words, a Tier-2 European country for a Tier-2 China city.
