The man who tried to attack Dr. Amy Acton at the Canfield Fair Sunday — armed with two pistols and a Taser — is Patrick Havas, a registered Republican with a prior theft record. He’s now facing two assault charges and disorderly conduct.

But wait, there’s more!

His brother is Andrew Havas. In 2008, Andrew — then 22 — was accused of sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old in Mahoning County. The charge was reduced to a single misdemeanor assault count in a plea deal, and he was sentenced to 90 days in jail. None of that stopped Jon Husted’s campaign from naming him a Franklin County chair in December, and Andrew introduced Husted at a Christmas party that same month. He resigned in July only after NBC News reported the conviction — the campaign says he never disclosed it. He’d also personally donated over $10,000 to Vivek Ramaswamy.

Every time the right insists political violence is “the other side,” the receipts point back at their own doorstep.
