@zectrillionaire@dunkdamonk if you're a lazy bum then maybe yes but the two examples you've cited are literally the simplest to maintain. have had literally 0 issues finding either of those and have the will to maintain going
@AStratelates@tshddx@samjohnson_phil you are aware that brains are simulation machines though right lol? every living thing models its environment to survive better...and emergence is very much real and can be noticed in many aspects of nature
@jomdont@hyrevayn@xwanyex@a_musingcat no pretraining just builds up the language / world understanding from the model, RL is what puts pressure on those models and shapes behavior and goals
@cgarciae88 they can't even define what consciousness is first but they rush to jump to the conclusion that conscience is only a human thing. peak "im right and everyone else is wrong" mentality
? the whole point is that the complexity (that is perhaps seen as consciousness by humans) is an emergent property of trillions of neurons/operations working all together. the whole claim that you can replicate it with pen and paper is nonsensical and totally irrelevant..
@bitcloud@gfodor@donutsarenonuts this is totally retarded, you are aware that a lot of physical processes compute/map naturally other physical processes right? look up information theory and information processing in adaptive systems..
just finished reading this great book by @MelMitchell1 and imo it relates pretty well to the current debate of consciousness of LLMs, would recommend anyone to read it
