@TRAUMA_MED_ @Pacers__ @jason_ryanmd I think the range is wide and it will are always be debatable until there is a culture of transparency and vulnerability at all levels in med ed. That being said 10-15% = system failure not individual failure. I think often of the income/debt, family planning, future impacts :(

@jason_ryanmd 20-25% of my class did not take step 1 by the school’s deadline, ~10% are further deferring in a way that would impact graduation. The kids are not alright and administration doesn’t care as long as it doesn’t impact their pass rate or match rate. It’s seen as a personal failure.

.@bfhermann My daughter, a surgical resident, spent 5 days in ICU after a suicide attempt. Our experience was published in @NEJM in Feb 2023 “Looking After Our Own”
Physician suicide rate is twice the general population. My conclusion is our culture is partly to blame.
