Italy’s solar output rises 27% to 5.32 TWh in September: Solar generation accounted for 48.6% of Italy’s renewable electricity output in September 2026, while renewable capacity additions for standalone battery… 🔗 Link in Bio #Photovoltaics#EnergyStorage#RenewableEnergy
15 years ago I lived every architect’s dream of designing a pavilion in a park.
When working on Qualico Family Centre, so many people shared memories of Assiniboine Park. A great honour of my career has been to create a place where new memories are made. https://t.co/5FnytUzsmD

With global temperature rise set to exceed 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, urgent and stringent cuts to greenhouse emissions are needed to minimize the magnitude and duration of overshoot and return to 1.5°C by the end of the century, a new UNEP report finds.
The Emissions Gap Report 2026: The Point of Return looks at a ‘lowest possible’ 1.5°C overshoot scenario, in which peak warming by around the middle of the century is limited to 1.7-1.8°C and global temperature rise is returned to or below 1.5°C by 2100, with about a 50 per cent chance. https://t.co/Ki8c5l0XkV via EnviroNews
GAUDI is one of the most famous architects in history for designing The Sagrada Família in Barcelona, Spain. Some people love Gaudi, others hate him…..not many in between. The Cathedral gets so much press, but have you ever seen the park he designed? It’s my most favorite of all his designs, and honestly the one design that keeps me interested in Gaudi. The Sagrada Família is fascinating, and huge, and took so long…..and I don’t really care. I don’t like it, but…..the park is amazing! I just stumbled upon it, had no idea it even existed, and ended up loving it for every good reason. Real architecture for the people……
“Green Architecture” before there was even a thing called sustainable. The design for the park is pure “vernacular” …..for the life and culture of the people. Well done Gaudi, well done. Pushing the envelope of what can be designed, what can be used, and what is possible. The act of a great artist and architect.

Integrating direct air capture (#DAC) into building heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems could leverage existing air-handling infrastructure while reducing ventilation energy demand through greater air recirculation.
A systematic review of 38 studies reveals substantial variation in reported performance due to differences in system boundaries, heat supply assumptions and comparison baselines.
Across 15 studies with harmonised energy data, grid-equivalent electricity demand ranged from 475 to 2,774 kWhe/tCO₂, while six comparable gross cost estimates ranged from $173 to $382/tCO₂, with a median of $240/tCO₂ in 2024 dollars.
Thirteen of 15 energy cases maintained a positive operational gross-capture balance at an illustrative grid carbon intensity of 400 gCO₂/kWh. However, building energy savings could not be reliably compared, and operational capture balances do not establish durable carbon removal.
The predominantly modelled evidence highlights the need for field measurements and consistent, transparent reporting.

Breatheable fabric floating row covers are far superior to sheet plastic in preventing dew on plants from freezing into frost. They should be mounted 1–2 ft. (30–60 cm) above the foliage and drape down not eh sides a similar distance from the plants.🌿

I was delighted to find my first ever Arbutus "the strawberry tree" even if it was in a Sainsbury's car park 🍓 🌳
It is an evergreen tree that blooms just now, between October and December when the bees need it most whilst interestingly also producing it's ripe, sticky sweet (if a little grainy) fruit at this time of year 🐝
The tree is a bit of an enigma as it has native wild populations in Ireland but none in Great Britain.
There are a number of theories regarding how this fascinating tree managed to leap frog Britain and come to Ireland but the most likely seems to be that over 4,000 years ago Copper Age miners from the Iberian Peninsula brought it with them as a source of charcoal. And in fact the oldest remains of the tree were to be found as charcoal in a mine in County Kerry.
Whilst whether or not the Strawberry Tree can still be considered a true Irish native is open to debate it remains a beautiful, beneficial and, importantly, ancient addition to our woodland flora 🍓
Silvopasture produces trees, forage and livestock on the same acreage. On Mike Jordan’s land, it also helped to improve wildlife habitat and reduce wildfire risk. There are many ways to approach a resource concern to get multiple conservation benefits that support productivity.
Because the people of the Niger Delta deserve more than promises. They deserve clean water, breathable air, restored land and accountability for environmental damage. Environmental justice must mean action, not just words.

Housing and Development : Can it be done well?
The world is building and developing at the fastest rate in history. Places like India and Nigeria are moving an entire nation into the future, and everyone needs housing…….density. From the villages to the cities. People say it can’t be done well, but this is not true…. IT CAN BE DONE WELL. It takes imagination, it takes effort, and it takes good design. This is where “culture” itself lives, in the rhythms our lives.
2 examples I think work:
Pic #1 - Designed by Peter Barber Architects, Edgewood Mews in North London features two rows of distinctive brick buildings arranged around a car-free pedestrian street. Great design using natural materials, massing, and site layout to inform the architecture.
Pic #2 - Shiraz, Iran 7 storeys of new apartments with a vast public park on the rooftop Architecture by Farshad Mehdizadeh.
In many ways this may look chaotic, but it is well ordered, and really takes care of the main issues of housing…..climate and privacy. I think it’s a great design.

NiSource locked a 20-year GenCo deal with Microsoft for the northwest Indiana campus. Per today's release:
>~1,100MW of new generation added to the GenCo pool, service from 2028
>Microsoft fully funds the generation and transmission built to serve it
>Expected NIPSCO customer savings rise from ~$1.4B to ~$1.75B over the life of the data-center contracts (up to ~$140 per customer a year)
>Separately, GenCo has contracted 600MW of battery storage (AGP Group toll) into the same pool
Same GenCo structure as Amazon and Alphabet: the hyperscaler pays for the assets and existing NIPSCO customers are protected from the incremental cost. Delivery starts 2028, so this is another late-decade block next to SoftBank Ohio and Venture Global's recent announcement.
