A2: With distance learning, I have to give very specific written feedback. To strengthen my teacher language next year, I want to keep giving specific and detailed written feedback on work because I see how much students live up to the words you say and write. #BESPLC

A1: I will start the year by creating collaborative classroom norms with logical consequences. I will also make sure students have time for reflection and discussions about coping skills. #BESPLC

A5: My main goal for next year is to explicitly teach and model SEL so the students are practicing the various aspects all throughout the day, not just morning meetings and BAW. I want them aware of what they are learning and where they may struggle. Modeling will be key! #BESPLC

A4: I think we need to be aware that sometimes adults have struggles with social and emotional aspects as well as children. The more we are aware of SEL the more grace we will have with both children and adults. Understanding and grace can strengthen all relationships. #BESPLC

A3: My biggest take away was that students taught SEL gained an average of 11 percentile points on standardized tests. I feel that makes the “there isn’t time to teach it” excuse invalid. We should make time because SEL benefits the child both socially and academically. #BESPLC

@DinkelJill Art is such a wonderful way for children to express themselves! Often I feel that they can draw emotions better than verbally express them.

A2: A change I saw after implementing BAW was decreased anxiety for rigorous tasks and increased comfort with risk taking in general. The combination of those also produced increased academic success. I saw happier kids! #BESPLC
