The NCDI Poverty Network works to save the lives of children and young adults doubly burdened by severe, chronic noncommunicable diseases and extreme poverty.
As Network co-chair Dr. Gene Bukhman says in this video, integrated care for #NCDs and the growth of PEN-Plus across Africa presents an opportunity to save 250,000 lives and get 1.5 million people into treatment over the next 10 years.

Today, on #WorldSickleCellDay, we reaffirm our commitment to improving access to quality care for people living with sickle cell disease. Through the #PENPlus Project, #CIDRZ is strengthening health systems and supporting expanded access to specialised NCD services across Zambia.
Today, as we mark World Sickle Cell Disease Day, we shine a spotlight on resilience and survival.
Eunice Achieng Owino from Kenya is one of the rare survivors who has grown into adulthood living with sickle cell disease—defying the odds in a region where many children do not survive beyond early childhood.
From being diagnosed at just 8 months old to learning how to manage her condition through years of pain, hospital visits, and resilience, her story is one of courage and hope.
Her message is clear: early newborn screening can save lives.
