Yeah, I don't think every adaptation has to follow the original exactly; it can have its own versions. But I just want to see how they're going to portray the bullying James Potter did to Snape without making it seem like racism.

PEOPLE KEEP SAYING THE NEW SNAPE LOOKS WRONG… BUT WHAT IF WE’RE JUST USED TO ALAN RICKMAN?

The movies gave us an unforgettable Snape, but Rickman was 55 when Philosopher’s Stone came out.

Book Snape was 31.

That changes the character more than people realize.

The HBO series isn’t trying to recreate Rickman’s Snape. It’s going back to the books and giving us a younger, harsher version of the character — closer to the man Rowling actually wrote.

Paapa Essiedu doesn’t need to replace Alan Rickman.

He needs to play Snape.

And honestly, maybe that’s exactly what fans need to see.

Are we judging the new Snape against the books — or against Rickman?

This Dumbledore isn’t really giving me much credibility. He doesn’t look like a badass, powerful wizard. I wanted to look at him and think, “holy shit, what a badass wizard,” but I look at him and just want to laugh. I think the characterization is really bad, in my opinion.
