Yes, those photos you’ve seen are real.
More than 18 years ago, a baby named Lamine Yamal and his mom Sheila met Lionel Messi at a UNICEF fundraising photoshoot.
Today, their achievements on the pitch inspire millions. Off the pitch, both Messi and Lamine Yamal use their voices and platforms as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors to support and advocate for children around the world.
The goal? That every child survives, thrives, and fulfils their potential.
We are proud to have them on our team.

The real reason EcoCash Holdings failed is because they tried to get into the business of startups instead of becoming a technology infrastructure company. When your moat is infrastructure, you don't risk your capital on experimental concepts, you invite other players to do that!
Ecocash & by extension Econet have dismally failed at this. All their subsidiaries have been nepotistic in nature. Prioritizing to invest inwards instead of out.
What does Econet have that others don't?
1. Data: They have data points on 10 million+ Zimbabweans from inception. There's not a single API that allows 3rd parties to access this stack.
Whoever pitched Kashagi needs to get fired because in a country with more than 200 MFIs & thousands of informal lenders, how do you not make it easier for all that capital being spun without sufficient data to lend much better? I recharge at least $100 USD/ month but can't even qualify for more than $2 lol. Come on? With all these AI tools available?
2. Payment Rails: Ecocash was a monster at its peak, that Innbucks is now considered a worthy adversary is laughable, how can you start getting heat from people that sell chicken. What went wrong?
a. It just never became a true fintech, their API suite is highly limited. At best you're only allowing your customers to pay with Ecocash, nothing else.
b. Agents: This could have been a stepping stone to creating distribution infrastructure. They practiced gate keeping & in the end, it became a hub for money laundering. Lost potential.
3. Capital: They honestly should have ignited a VC culture in the country, instead, they invest in friends and family. Nobody likes investing alone. By opening up their ecosystem to developers & writing the first checks, they would have lowered the perceived risk of Zim as a startup hub & offered more assurance on scalability;
"Here's 10 million potential customers we've opened up for this startup to access. We've already funded $150K pre-seed for them."
What needs to change?
1. Frankly, it's leadership. Nobody there really inspires change anymore. It's not an exciting enterprise nor one that seems to care. They can restructure all they want, but as long as that's not addressed, we'll continuously have lackluster products in the market.
2. They need better Dev products. I would start with an API marketplace. Full & economically affordable access to their infrastructure. This is the only way.
3. $10 million/ year in startup funding would change the tech landscape of Zim for years to come. They don't even need to foot the whole bill themselves.

This is actually insane
A new type of device, a pocket companion. They’re not trying to replace your phone
It’s AI enabled hardware that understands interfaces & can complete tasks for you
You can even teach it through screenshare
& it’s only $199 🥵
@todd_boehly@NeilSpyBarnett I am afraid the current “Chelsea” manager is also not an actual Chelsea manager. Hopefully, the results have made that quite clear
#EnzoFernandez to @ChelseaFC Rivals fans on Twitter crying for Financial Fair Play I ask, What did you think would happen when Roman left #CFC debt free, with a positive net spend in the last decade and a demand of £2.5 billion for transfers in the next 10 years? Lol cry more 🤣

I swear Arsenal purposely lose games before playing Chelsea just to direct that saved energy into winning this derby. I’m so over this fixture man #CHEARS#Chelsea#KTBFFH
Though disappointed by losing the tie, I am a proud #Chelsea fan tonight for the way the team played and won the match. Even with this high level of performance the only way from here is 🆙 and I can’t be more excited for the future #RMACHE#Chelsea#KTBFFH
