CAB3 Circus - Videos circulating from CAB3 consultations raise serious concerns about the process.
Isn’t it ironic that changes said to reduce “toxicity” are being discussed in an environment marked by chaos and intimidation?
It begs the question, are those who submitted written comments safe?
@ParliamentZim, when people cannot speak freely, consultation becomes meaningless.
The violence against Zimbabwean human rights lawyer Doug Coltart today at the parliamentary hearings for Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 at the Harare City Sports Centre is disgraceful.
The racist abuse directed at him by fellow Zimbabweans is equally shameful, exposing a dangerous erosion of tolerance, respect for the rule of law, and basic democratic values.
Whatever happens with Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, it is already tainted by these actions of ZANUPF hooligans, thugs, and despicable individuals.
You cannot take parliamentary hearings to the people and then assault them for airing their views, for opposing what you are saying, or for holding alternative opinions. That is not consultation, it is intimidation, and it completely undermines the legitimacy of the entire process.
Beating up a fellow Zimbabwean who is a lawyer, stealing his phone, and preventing him from speaking is the very worst conduct in any parliamentary hearing process, including this Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3. Those behind these actions should be deeply ashamed, because they are not only undermining the process, they are embarrassing the country and eroding respect for the rule of law.
These are not "Public hearings" but Zanu PF rallies disguised as a national agenda. Next will be another charade when the report with views "gathered" will be tabled in Parliament . How does an Mp debate contrary to the "views of the majority" ? Whose "interests" would they be serving? More painful is how we have misled our people , rallied them to attend rigged and manipulated processes then later rush to social media crying foul.
Why we Reject Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3
We reject Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 because it does not strengthen our democracy, it weakens it!
We have grown up believing that every citizen must have an equal voice and that leadership must come from the will of the people. This Bill takes us in the opposite direction. It seeks to remove our right to directly elect the President and instead allows Parliament to choose on our behalf. It replaces one person, one vote with decisions made by a few.
We reject this Bill because it extends presidential and parliamentary terms from five to seven years, keeping leaders in power longer without returning to the people for a fresh mandate. No leader should benefit from changing the rules while already in office.
We reject this Bill because it avoids the referendum required by Section 328 of the Constitution. If these changes are truly in the national interest, then citizens themselves must be allowed to decide.
We reject this Bill because it concentrates more power in the hands of the President: more unelected Senators, more control over Parliament, more influence over the courts, and more control over elections. A democracy is strongest when power is shared and institutions remain independent.
We reject this Bill because it weakens the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, undermines the independence of the judiciary, and abolishes institutions that protect peace, accountability and gender equality. These institutions exist to serve the people, not those in power.
As a generation, as ordinary people, we cannot remain silent when our Constitution is being changed in ways that reduce our voice and our rights.
We, the citizens, reject this Bill in its entirety!
We demand two referendums on Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3.
Nothing for the citizens without the citizens!

🔸The way the world is talking about Zimbabwe after today’s T20 victory is how I want the world to always talk about us. Dominant. Competent. United. All those beautiful words that Zimbabwe was once known for. Thank you, Chevrons for putting respect on our name. Representing Zimbabwe on the international stage is the highest honour. #TeamZimbabwe🇿🇼
🔸Things that should be taught in school:
•How to pay taxes.
•Rights upon arrest.
•Constitutional rights generally.
•Structure of government.
•Property consequences on marriage.
•How to write a will.
•Meaning of consent.
•How to vote.
•Role of MP vs Councillor.
•Basics of buying a property.
•Essentials of customary law.
We need new leaders.🇿🇼
It is with a great sense of relief that the Zimbabwean journalist and political prisoner Blessed “Dhara” Mhlanga has finally been granted bail today after spending 72 days in prison for a crime he did not commit.
He should not have been in prison, and he should not have been arrested for simply doing his work as a journalist.
The whole world now knows that he was arrested for helping expose Mnangagwa’s attempt to steal the People’s Own Savings Bank (POSB), and for interviewing a war veteran who is speaking out against the dictator’s attempt to unconstitutionally extend his term of office.
The whole world knows that there is no freedom of speech or of the press in Zimbabwe.
I would like to thank each one of you who donated to help his family, especially Estelle Adams, who as always, agreed to set up the GoFundMe when I asked her to. It raised £5,420.
Thank you to all 256 people who donated to this fund. Thank you also to those who donated offline directly to the family, and to my former lecturer who donated £2,000 offline.
You all made the burden lighter, including those who retweeted and reposted my regular requests to donate. Thank you.
We are all glad that Blessed is coming home to be with his family and to do what he enjoys most, practising journalism, and the whole world knows the is now freedom of press.
Now Blessed must be removed from remand and the foolish charges dropped, instead of being repeatedly summoned to court for a crime that does not exist.
Unfortunately, there are people who are shamefully employed to fight any element of enlightenment and anyone who seeks to open the eyes of the masses.
This video is a clear piece of enlightenment, aimed at helping those who have been subjected to relentless ZANUPF propaganda.
This information would embarrass anyone associated with the regime and its 45-year history of lies, theft of public funds, and plunder of the country’s natural resources.
But not everyone in this group of looters has a moral compass to understand how much damage has been done to communities by this never-ending theft of taxpayers’ money.
It is truly embarrassing to see anyone educated supporting this mediocrity that defines Zimbabwe’s post colonial rule!
This is what I mean when I say the looting of public funds will punish everyone, regardless of political party affiliation.
This is Chilonga Bridge on the Lunde River in Chiredzi South District today.
A few years ago, it was in the news after a NetOne technician and someone he had given a lift were swept away in his company car while trying to cross from Chikombedzi to Chiredzi.
Samson Zvarimwa, a technician for the mobile network operator, and Loice Maradze, a money changer from Masvingo, died in May 2022 when their vehicle was swept off the Chilonga Bridge over the Runde River in Chiredzi South.
After that fatal tragedy, one would have thought that Mnangagwa’s regime would be embarrassed and shamed into action, but the corrupt regime does not care.
In fact, the regime lied through its propaganda mouthpiece, claiming it had set aside money to build a new bridge just before this fatal tragedy, where this collapsed bridge now lies in ruins.
Evidence of the lies: 👉🏿https://t.co/fuAgeuVoKu
This bridge is the only gateway that connects villages from the Limpopo River Basin like Sengwe, Gezani, Malipati, and Chikombedzi with their urban hub of Chiredzi.
There are many bridges which were part of the Rhodesian infrastructure that ZANUPF inherited in 1980 and simply didn’t maintain due to massive looting of public funds.
The Rhodesians also left behind the Chipinda Pools Bridge which was an alternative crossing point, but again to lack of maintenance, it was swept away in 2000.
