Today, I hosted the leadership of Wapi Pay, a Kenyan-founded fintech that has evolved from cross-border payments into a broader digital economy platform with a growing presence across Africa and Asia.
Our discussions focused on practical opportunities that can deliver tangible benefits for Kenyans, including reducing the cost of cross-border and diaspora payments, opening Chinese markets to Kenyan exports, creatives and SMEs through trade and content partnerships, and expanding access to Artificial Intelligence and digital skills for our young people so that they become creators and builders of technology, not merely consumers.
We also explored opportunities within the creator economy to showcase Kenya’s culture, tourism and talent to global audiences, as well as green mobility and digital infrastructure initiatives that can create jobs and spur innovation.
As we embrace these opportunities, the Government remains committed to ensuring that innovation goes hand in hand with strong safeguards protecting children online, promoting responsible content, and ensuring compliance with Kenya’s laws and regulatory frameworks.
Under the Digital Superhighway agenda, we will continue to position Kenya as the region’s hub for digital innovation and the digital economy, while fostering partnerships that deliver real value, jobs, skills and dignity for our people.
Ahead of the Finland–Kenya Business Forum in Helsinki, I met with business leaders shaping Kenya’s digital future who are joining my delegation to engage with their Finnish counterparts.
The delegation brings together leading actors from Kenya’s technology, connectivity, data infrastructure, financial services and investment sectors. Collectively, they represent the innovation, capital and expertise driving Kenya’s emergence as a leading innovation and technology hub on the African continent.
Our discussions focused on strengthening partnerships that expand digital infrastructure, accelerate innovation, attract investment and unlock new opportunities for businesses and citizens. Kenya comes to Finland with a clear commitment to building mutually beneficial partnerships that advance economic growth, technological progress and shared prosperity.

💡 For merchants, it means reconciliation faster.

💡 For the economy, it means a more connected, inclusive financial system.
Together we’re making markets more accessible. @GeeKeay@ndichupm

The story of June 25th 2024 is already written and as they say, the ink is dry. Those attempting to rewrite it will find it especially difficult because this particular piece of history is written in blood. Speaking as someone who was present in Parliament that day, the events depicted in the #BloodParliament documentary by #BBCAfricaEye are not fabrications. They happened. We all saw it live and on our screens. We must encourage these stories to be told from all angles for the sake of truth and justice. Those who are uncomfortable with this are wrestling with their own consciences and we cannot help them with that.
Whether you like Trump or not isn’t important.
Ask yourself why no CEO was either able or willing to do this under the Biden Administration?
All future Presidents need to be able to bring this quantum of capital and jobs into the US economy if we want to be great.
Celebrating that first customer 🙌🏾
