Back when I was getting my journalism degree, a week before my first semester even started, I watched a lecture from a guy who'd been a role-model journalist for me. 5 minutes in and he says: if there's any opportunity for you not to pursue journalism, please don't. It's the trenches out there. You have to really love it to survive it.
Too late of an advice for me by then haha.

But love's not enough to survive. What keeps a newsroom alive isn't just passion -- it's someone willing to pay for it. And as @CamiRusso says, crypto media was largely funded by VC-backed projects, not by readers.

Maybe leaning B2C and actually getting readers to pay is part of the answer. Though that assumes an audience raised on free alpha is willing to open its wallet, which is the real question.

Btw, it stung to see Blockworks and then DLNews stop putting out news -- truly enjoyed @yeluacaM and @TimInCrypto DeFi coverage.

Was reading about @Uniswap DualPool hook and immediately thought of @BarterDeFi Autopilot.

Different implementation, but the underlying idea is pretty close: keep assets productive while they’re still available for swaps. Feels like this is slowly becoming a broader DeFi design pattern.
