We fight for a Nebraska where everyone’s voice is heard - in the halls of the legislative bodies, the ballot box, & our communities. Sister org of @neappleseed
For everyone to have access to the good life, we must ensure that Nebraska workers are paid a living wage. That’s why the minimum wage increase passed overwhelmingly - and why we must now all fight to protect it. Tell your senator to OPPOSE ❌LB258: https://t.co/OCMOSVEqPt
Workers and families have said this for years–no one should have to choose between a paycheck and their health.
We’re excited to #VoteFOR436 on November’s ballot to support the health and wellbeing of Nebraskans, ensuring they can earn and use paid sick leave!
@PaidSickLeaveNE
Yesterday, we celebrated turning in 138,000+ signatures to get @PaidSickLeaveNE on the ballot this November!
So many Nebraskans have shared how they have to make impossible choices between their health & their paycheck.
Now, us voters can ensure people no longer have to choose.

Ballot initiatives are people-led, which is why we have “sponsors” who bring them forward on behalf of all Nebraskans. Because we deserve to vote directly on popular policies that improve the lives of working Nebraskans 💪
We’re excited to introduce our paid sick leave ballot initiative sponsors. First up is Sierra Edmisten from Hastings, NE.
Mom to four kids, long-time worker in nursing homes and daycares, and a fierce advocate. Sierra knows first-hand what having no paid sick leave is like ⤵️
Watch her sharing her story with the National Poor People’s Campaign in DC. Less than 48 hours later she was back home in Nebraska, filing this ballot initiative!
Every hard working Nebraskan should be able to take a day off when they’re sick without risking their job or their ability to pay their bills. I fought for this bill in the Legislature and am hopeful that voters will have this choice in the 2024 elections.

One of the greatest things I had at my previous job was paid sick leave. I didn't use it that often, but it was really nice to have that in my back pocket if I have something come up or I'm just feeling well that day
So proud to be a ballot sponsor for this!! Nebraskans shouldn't have to chose between working and being with their sick family member or have to worry about taking time off for being sick!!!
I took action with @neaplsdaction!!
Paid sick leave allows employees to take care of themselves, their children and their families. This is a win-win for employers and employees!

So many important kitchen table issues for voters will be on the ballot in 2024. We will always keep fighting for you through advocacy and legislation — and now it’s time to let the voters speak on paid leave!!
This initiative will mean hardworking Nebraskans won’t have to choose between the paycheck they need and their family’s health. We’re supporting efforts to bring it Nebraska voters!
