@xiaowang1984 @VladGutman Ah, of course. And yet, there is zero space for utility scale RE generation in NYC. Yes we are developing offshore wind- which will be huge- 9gw, I think?)& guessing that’s the solution- relying on OSW. I can’t think of anything else (other than more transmission projects)

@xiaowang1984 @VladGutman New England has been so stupid shutting down nuclear power plants. It’s allllllll been replaced by gas. Increasing emissions. so much support from climate/ enviro groups. This enrages me. I will not support a single one of them unless they reverse their positions on nuclear power

@xiaowang1984 @VladGutman 100%. I’m not super technically savvy, but from what I’ve seen, plans for getting NYC away from a grid that’s 85%+ dirty (peakers & base load) without nuclear power have too many hopes and dreams and aren’t really rooted in reality.

@xiaowang1984 @VladGutman I’m not really sure, tbh- my understanding (pretty limited ) is that local NYC is focused on increasing storage - especially at gas and former coal power plants in and around NYC

@xiaowang1984 @VladGutman Clean path and chpe are the two big projects (renewables and transmission) to nyc. Then there’s the phase 2b transmission project- $2 billion or so, approved in March 2023 that will increase transmission capacity by about 700mw from Jefferson/Lewis counties out (downstate)
