I privately warned @ByronDonalds about this outcome in June: that the eventual Democrat nominee would use Byron’s refusal to debate in the Republican primary as an excuse to not debate him in the general.

Of course there should be a debate in the Governor’s race, but the irony of demanding a debate now after turning down three debate invitations from @PatrickBetDavid, CBS, and FOX gave Democrats the perfect attack line: “Why should there be a debate when Byron refused to debate three times in the primary?”

Byron Donalds should have listened to Governor DeSantis and debated Lt. Governor Collins, Speaker Renner, and me for the voters’ sake, and to deny Democrats the “he didn’t debate, so why should we?” attack line they’re using right now.

This is totally predictable. If enacted, Amendment 3 would roll property taxes back to 2020 levels and our services were fine back then. My property taxes have increased 50% and I haven’t seen a 50% increase in my services.
