I’m always surprised how even the most innocent, prudish women I talk to always have more relationship experience than me.
So I force myself to have random sex, and be more of a sleazeball to make up for the disparity in experience.
Happy when my monastery friends ghost me, I assume they are fully withdrawing from social relations, and inclining themselves towards final nibbana. I really like the Buddhist conception of friendship, in my opinion the most altruistic- to help each other not need one another
@JackReinaart Good post. Dukkha is not isomorphic to any words in English afaik and suffering as translation is too loaded connotatively. Burning in hell realms registers as suffering, but what about the quiet unease of not finding a home to rest one’s heart?
Buddhism can free you from lust, anxiety, greed, etc., but what about your upbringing, those small manners of a country?
Unknown to me before this day that the Ajahn called Nyanamoli is from Serbia. Before, I thought perhaps he was Italian or Slovenian, going on the accent, but it was unclear and curiosity in this direction, misplaced. Buddhism has freed him from the immediate trappings of nationality, another attachment.
I long for universality, the chains of circumstance loose, the walls of place fallen, the final cosmopolitan become.
Yet, I love art, and isn't an artwork the most provincial of things? A world itself against empty nothing.

@godspeed_aflame I’ve felt like fundamentally the same being since my first instance of consciousness. Kind of boring tbh, any “growth” or “change” people attribute to me are like grains of sand on an already established mega structure.
@zenithoptera He’s like one of those no pfp accounts that says one thing so insightful you follow, and then they are just disagreeable dickheads in every interaction. Exaggeration, but that’s how it feels to read him
@Philip2Phl99 Which forum exactly? Dhammawheel or the Daniel Ingram ones?
I was a kid without worries in 2015 so don’t quite remember. But I did really like Frank Yang’s ~2020 videos. Even if they were very wrong or whatever, they were extremely inspiring to me at the time.
