Commodity mkt guru Jeff Currie on the next oil price spike:
“[Commodity markets] don’t price the future; they price the now ... We're not in a shortage today. We’re going to be in a shortage in mid-April, that’s when the market has to clear."
THAT'S WHEN OIL PRICES WILL SPIKE.
No.... not exactly. While there is a strong correlation, it's clear from the chart that some recessions started before the oil price spike, so the spike is not (always) causal.
That being said, correlations are not nothing...
Every time oil prices surged 50%+ above trend, a recession followed.
Every. Single. Time.
We just crossed that threshold again.
This isn't a prediction. It's history rhyming.
@JBellas@hkuppy Nah, Bro, 2026.
They've already choked shipping, pushed oil up to $100+, will spark inflation, etc. Oil stocks being used up, and oil will increase a lot if nothing changes. All these have to do is maintain a minimal amount of disruption.
Turns out progressive Canadian Boomers & Millennials voted away their property rights over a decade. Imagine working & sacrificing for 10yrs for a deposit on a house u can barely afford, only to have ownership taken from you. Elections have consequences.
