Support for GOWIN FPGAs has been added to the popular #fCAPZ FPGA debug toolchain!
fCAPZ is an open-source, vendor-agnostic suite of FPGA debug cores, including, among others, an Embedded Logic Analyzer (ELA) for waveform capture and an Embedded I/O (EIO) for runtime read/write of fabric signals. Coupled with OpenOCD, fcapZ opens up a new realm of debugging possibilities:
* No more fiddly, platform-specific, GUI-based configuration of debug cores.
* No more interrupted synthesis / PAR flow for debug core wire-up.
* Simple plug-and-play debug cores, platform-agnostic interface.
* Command line-based, i.e. probe, capture, with a multitude of debug options.
* Automated, AI-based review of debug capture
* Allows waveform review using open-source viewers such as Surfer or GTKWave.

start small:
power → batteries, regulators, current limits
actuators → dc motors, servos, steppers
sensors → encoders, imu, cameras
controllers → microcontrollers, motor drivers
map software concepts to hardware:
loops → control loops
bugs → noise, backlash, latency
crashes → brownouts, overheating
write simple firmware.
blink leds. spin motors. read sensors.
then connect it back to what you know:
run control code on real motors
stream data into ros
watch your “perfect” algorithms meet reality
hardware teaches what software hides.
start small. iterate. integrate.
