Hugo González knows how to impact basketball…
VERY good athlete that plays with anticipation + hot motor. That baseline makes him a strong defender & elite positional rebounder. Improve spot shooting & transition attack to become an A+ role player.
Despite everything I said below, I am surprised Brooklyn hasn’t just acquired him to have an attraction to sell tickets. They probably fear he’s counter to the culture they are trying to build…
Mitch would be a great get for the Nets.
They have Dayron already so they wont have to give Mitch too many minutes, and I would love to see this team add more size and physicality (something they have lacked throughout Marks's tenure).
Latest offseason intel via @thesteinline, @jakelfischer:
- Nets have interest in signing Mitchell Robinson; Lakers also regarded as a "likely suitor"
- Jalen Duren sign-and-trade for Jaylen Brown can't be ruled out
- Cavs should soon have agreement on a new deal for James Harden
I feel like im losing my mind here.
Anybody paying attention knew MBJ was their guy for the last month, and nobody had an issue with the Nets taking him over Acuff until yesterday.
People talk about the Brooklyn Nets unlike any other sports team
If any other team drafted a player based on "box office", they would be (rightfully) crucified
"Acuff, the brother is box office. ... He's got the potential to be box office, and I think if you're Brooklyn you have to think about that too."
—@stephenasmith on Brooklyn dropping the ball not drafting Darius Acuff Jr. first round 🗣️
Its really this simple and im baffled by people who are either confused by the trade or outright hate it.
This is exactly the type of move the Nets should have made in their situation.
When Julius Randle came to NY in the 2019-2020 season, he was a floor raiser. Competitive and tough and hates to lose. The Nets are overdue a massive dose of what Randle has. Randle’s problem is he’s struggled as a ceiling raiser. Can’t get his team over the playoff hump. And the Nets are a long way from that
