The time of day that we eat has significant impact on body weight and metabolic health but what determines those mealtimes? In a new study @NatureNeuro, we monitored daily oscillations in the activity of key hypothalamic hunger neurons expressing AgRP. ++ https://t.co/v9eBTt2Aqy
@SuayibUestuen I totally agree. And there are also the ones that just because you are first gen and coming from an "underdeveloped" country, they can easily exploit your labor, because you need that contract. It's just horrible. Plus another down side is always money, money and money. 🤷🏻♀️
I am so happy to share that once upon a time the project that I did as my master thesis has flourished and turned into this beautiful paper! Kudos to all authors! 🍾🥂 @AtasoyLab https://t.co/ThdbSXJOjZ
Historically, much of the gender gap in earnings could be explained by differences in education and occupational choices. However, this year’s economic sciences laureate Claudia Goldin has shown that the bulk of this earnings difference is now between men and women in the same occupation, and that it largely arises with the birth of the first child.

Birgit Lane created this valuable database for the IF research community: doi/10.1002/humu.20652. It includes e.g. lists of antibodies to detect your favourite IF protein. @connectingIFs
@GurhanKutsal@Psibilim Bunu diyen adamın bio kısmını cv gibi doldurması ironisi. Başarılı insanlar, başardıklarıyla gurur duyanlar niye sizi rahatsız ediyor? Terapiye gidip altını araştırma zamanı.
And his love for drawing naked portraits of his female students and sometimes pretending to be an undergrad student to trick younger women to sleep with him. So inspiring(!)
Richard Feynman's love for Drawing 🎨
I wanted very much to learn to draw, for a reason that I kept to myself:
I wanted to convey an emotion I have about the beauty of the world. It’s difficult to describe because it’s an emotion. It’s analogous to the feeling one has in religion that has to do with a god that controls everything in the universe: there’s a generality aspect that you feel when you think about how things that appear so different and behave so differently are all run ‘behind the scenes’ by the same organization, the same physical laws. It’s an appreciation of the mathematical beauty of nature, of how she works inside; a realization that the phenomena we see result from the complexity of the inner workings between atoms; a feeling of how dramatic and wonderful it is. It’s a feeling of awe — of scientific awe — which I felt could be communicated through a drawing to someone who had also had that emotion. I could remind him, for a moment, of this feeling about the glories of the universe.

@LiddelowSA I am about to finish my Phd and I was thinking I am an "early career researcher", but according to response from my job applications, this makes me an "baby researcher" in my career :))
We have provided an overview of current and emerging approaches for monitoring neuropeptides, with a focus on GPCR activation-based sensors. We hope that this review will assist scientists in the selection and application of appropriate tools in their research.
I watched this whole thing and have so much to say. But the main thing I want to know is who is this warrior at minute 46, and how do I send her flowers? I know first hand the immense courage it took for her to speak up, and keep speaking.

(1/3) Exciting news! Introducing highly selective next-generation norepinephrine (NE) GRAB sensors! Our optimized fluorescent NE sensors possess 1000-fold selectivity over DA and a 4-fold increase in behavior-stimulated in vivo signals compared to previous prototypes.
If you are a postdoc working in the sciences or arts in Germany, you should be aware of plans to reform short-term contracts.
Here's what you need to know:
My male coworker and I both asked for raises in 2022 and were told we’d be notified in April. In April, performance reviews were suspended indefinitely. I just found out my coworker still got his raise and was told not to tell so they could get away with not giving me mine.
