Ensuring the Future of neXtProt: Your ideas matter!
Due to funding issues, neXtProt will cease operations by year-end. We are exploring new ways to repurpose or relocate its valuable components and need your creative ideas. Feel free to contact us! @ISBSIB@biocurator@SWAT4HCLS
Happy that the neXtProt set of manually curated function predictions for 239 uncharacterized proteins could be used to evaluate DeepGO-SE, a new powerful AI-based protein function predictor developed by @coolmaksat at KAUST!

Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure to present the neXtProt Function prediction project at #HUPO2023. Since then, predictions were added for 12 proteins. Now, 244/1521 uncharacterized proteins have hypotheses! https://t.co/qkJmgTS0j1

Don't miss the farewell lecture of SIB co-founder and Group Leader, Amos Bairoch (@calipho2) at @unige_en on 28 September in which he will share insights from his remarkable career spanning 4 decades!

Happy that neXtProt and its associated set of 140 SPARQL query examples could be used as benchmarks for this nice study on interoperability between biological and chemical databases ! @ELIXIRCZ@ISBSIB
As a member of @ELIXIRCZ, we would like to introduce you to our new review on making relational databases accessible via #SPARQL.

Chi-Biotech and neXtProt joined their forces and are happy to deliver a mirror site of neXtProt in China, https://t.co/rMuaAm0ZrP, which should considerably improve the usability of neXtProt for all our users located in China and other Asian countries! @ISBSIB@hupo_org
How can Next Generation Proteomics help us predict the functions of the ~1500 human genes that remain totally uncharacterized?
Happy to exchange ideas with #BSPREUPA2023 attendees tomorrow at poster 146 !

Congratulations to SIB’s @PascaleGaudet, recipient of the International Society for #Biocuration’s “Exceptional contribution to biocuration” award.
A fantastic recognition of her work (incl. on @nextprot_news@news4go) and #Swiss excellence in the field:

Poster presented at @imig2023 on the molecular pathway of Pleural Mesotelioma in @WikiPathways, constructed by the community! The poster shows uses of the pathway for omics data interpretation, and integration with other databases such as @neXtProt_news . https://t.co/ObizoS6GUd
The Proceedings of SWAT4HCLS2023 have just been published! Our Data in use paper (https://t.co/4QcWzcQfnh) describes query NXQ_00300, that highlights 44 uncharacterized human proteins potentially involved in brain function than can be studied in Drosophila melanogaster!
Many thanks to the organizers for this great opportunity to exchange fresh ideas on how to better characterize the human proteome in the frame of in the HPP Grand challenge!

Two years ago, neXtProt launched the community function prediction pages for uncharacterized proteins.
Now, 239 entries have hypotheses.
Check them out and help us reach the 500 entry mark!

Did you know that about 1 in 4 neXtProt entries (5415 in total) are associated with a disease?
98 disease-associated proteins are encoded on chromosome 13. Find out how many are on your favorite chromosome using this SPARQL query: https://t.co/d5RTC5tEjv

Retrieve the 17453 PE1 entries that comply with the @hupo_org HPP data interpretation guidelines 3.0 in less than one second using our new SPARQL query https://t.co/T4O4rCCXo9
Check out Poster 12 @LS2Switzerland and talk to Paula Duek about the #neXtProt function prediction project for uncharacterized human proteins, and how to contribute! @ISBSIB@hupo_org
