🆘🆘 from our @UNRWA staff in northern #Gaza.
Nearly three weeks of non-stop bombardments from the Israeli Forces as the death toll increases.
Our staff report they cannot find food, water or medical care.
The smell of death is everywhere as bodies are left lying on the roads or under the rubble. Missions to clear the bodies or provide humanitarian assistance are denied.
In northern Gaza, people are just waiting to die.
They feel deserted, hopeless and alone. They live from one hour to the next, fearing death at every second.
Throughout the war over the past year, some UNRWA staff stayed in the north & did the impossible to provide aid to internally displaced people.
We kept some of our shelters open despite heavy bombardments & attacks on our buildings.
On behalf of our staff in northern Gaza, I am calling for an immediate truce, even if for few hours, to enable safe humanitarian passage for families who wish to leave the area & reach safer places.
This is the bare minimum to save the lives of civilians who have nothing to do with this conflict.
#CeaseFireNow
For the 2nd year in a row, Burkina Faso is world’s most neglected displacement crisis.
Last week I witnessed the impact of extreme neglect in the country & the toll it takes.
2023:
- 700k + new displacements in the country
- hundreds of thousands completely cut off from aid

In 4 months of war, around 100,000 people in #Gaza were killed, injured or are currently missing.
This represents nearly 5 % of the population. You can easily figure out what this would means in your city or country….
In addition, around 17,000 #children are unaccompanied or separated from their families.
More than 80% of the population has been displaced, most several times.
And the war goes on unabated though there will be no winner, only suffering, misery & grievance.
A ceasefire is overdue, a different trajectory is needed for the sake of people in #Gaza, in #Israel, elsewhere in the region and beyond

🚨🔴 PRCS: We have completely lost contact with the operations room in #Gaza Strip and all our teams operating there due to the Israeli authorities cutting off all landline, cellular and internet communications. We are deeply concerned about the ability of our teams to continue providing their emergency medical services, especially since this disruption affects the central emergency number “101” and hinders the arrival of ambulance vehicles to the wounded and injured.
🚑 We are also worried about the safety of our teams working in Gaza Strip as the continuous and intense Israeli airstrikes around the clock indicate that the Israeli authorities will continue to commit war crimes while isolating Gaza from the outside world.
📢 we call on the international community to exert pressure on the Israeli authorities to provide immediate protection to innocent civilians, medical facilities and our teams.

Depuis 2015, le Burkina Faso fait face à de nombreux défis sécuritaires qui engendrent d’importants déplacements de population à l'intérieur du pays et une vulnérabilité accrue des communautés. 1/8
