@NFTdavex@Cooopahtroopa Split royalties especially on secondary sales is still an issue. With bands or collabs where many artists are involved in a single track there's no easy way for marketplaces to split it among multiple wallets upon sale.
@secretlyfamous@jesse_feister@Cooopahtroopa Agreed it's still early, and to be honest the tech isn't quite there yet for the music use case. But it will come, we're keeping a close eye on it.
gm frens! Here's a question for the #musicians out there... If you could choose which blockchain/ Layer 2 solution to mint your music #NFTs on, which would you choose?
1. Ethereum
2. Polygon
3. ImmutableX
4. Solana
5. Tezos
6. Avalanche
7. Other?
@NFTS0UNDS@DAOrecords_@0xPolygon@Immutable@arbitrum True, they are all L2s. We are also researching Solana, Avalanche, Tezos & Near. It all depends on where musicians and collectors want to mint/ buy music NFTs at the end of the day.
@BonafideCluster @NFTupdate Certainly. It's a different (and very cool) use case. That's part of what we're working on at https://t.co/xDCUS5E3sH giving the artist the option to choose, and pre-written legal agreements they can use. With NFTs the sky is the limit in how you apply them. Make it work for you!
@AndrewSteinwold I ❤️ the music NFT sector because artists don't have to rely on streaming pennies, tours and merch to survive. And can connect directly with fans and don't need to be exploited by labels to 'make it'
@danielsdarkart@opensea@zapper_fi There should be an option to create a storefront, which creates a contract for you on the blockchain (gas fees apply). Once you have your contract you can mint using that instead of the OpenSea shared storefront contract. Or you can use @mintbase to create your contract there.
Who remembers coming out of a record store with a brand new album, not being able to get home quick enough to close the door, put the record on and immerse yourself in the #music? Knowing you OWN that album, it's yours. Well, we want to do the same with NFTs!
@SharpenStrokes_ @ethereum@0xPolygon@tezos@NEARProtocol@solana@hicetnunc2000@trent_reznor I think it's a great way for artists to also get part of the upside from others profiting from your work. But yes we have to be careful how we approach this. We might accidentally recreate the current music business where some fat cats make money off the work of others
@SharpenStrokes_ @ethereum@0xPolygon@tezos@NEARProtocol@solana@hicetnunc2000@trent_reznor Yes exactly. It will cool down and settle I'm sure. For now it's very speculative. It's new and people want to be part of the upside. I think in the long run it could be revolutionary for artists and the music business as a whole
