Since the rains began, 8,600 houses have been flooded, along with thousands of farmlands and thousands of livestock.

Nearly 19,000 households are currently affected and need to be assisted.

Another devastating news.

I am deeply saddened to announce the tragic loss of Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) volunteer, Mr Sabeil Ibrahim Adam on 26 August 2024.

Sabeil lost his life while providing first aid services in Eldein town, East Darfur State. He was among the dedicated volunteers supporting El-Daein teaching hospital. Since the conflict in Sudan began in mid-April last year, eight volunteers from the Sudanese Red Crescent have tragically lost their lives.

I send my deepest condolences to the family, Sudanese Red Crescent Society, friends, and colleagues of Sabeil Ibrahim Adam.

I reiterate my call for the protection of humanitarian workers.
