At his rally tonight in Michigan, Donald Trump said that the outcome of the @UAW strike “doesn’t make a damn bit of difference.” He rambled, he lied about his record on standing with workers, and he seemed to completely miss the point that if the US doesn’t make the next generation of vehicles, China will continue to completely eat our lunch.

For the workers I’ve talked to, a fair deal means the ability to provide for their families and secure a spot in the middle class. That may not mean much to Mr. Trump, but for Michiganders, it matters.

A man was flying from Seattle to San Francisco. The plane had a layover in Sacramento. The flight attendant explained that there would be a delay, and if the passengers wanted to get off the aircraft, the plane would re-board in one hour.
Everybody got off the plane except one gentleman who was blind.
Another man had noticed him as he walked by and could tell the gentleman was blind because his Seeing Eye dog lay quietly underneath the seats in front of him throughout the
entire flight. He could also tell he had flown this very flight before because the pilot approached him, and calling him by name, said, "Keith, we're in Sacramento for an hour, would you like to get off and stretch your legs? "
The blind man replied, "No thanks, but maybe my dog would like to stretch his legs."

All the people in the gate area came to a complete standstill when they looked up and saw the pilot walk off the plane with a Seeing Eye dog! The pilot was even wearing sunglasses. People scattered. They not only tried to change planes, but they were trying to change airlines!

The reason for that is the statute that was invoked. It's called the #MartinAct, it was enacted 102 years ago, and it is an extremely powerful weapon the state can use against fraudsters. It's powerful for a number of reasons. One is that it doesn't require proof of fraudulent intent by the business or its CEO or any of its officers, and it doesn't require proof that the false numbers that are cooked up in the business are actually relied on by anyone. Whether the company is publicly traded or a private corporation like the #Trump corporation, it's enough that the numbers kept on the books are false. Here, there was no dispute that the numbers were false, and substantially so. In fact, Trump's defense -- which isn't a defense under the Martin Act -- was, 'Well nobody was going to rely on this because we basically said nobody should rely on this, because essentially everyone knows I'm lying because I'm a liar.' That's a little bit tendentious but not far from the truth. The other aspect of the Martin Act, which is the most important piece of what happened today, is that it provides for extraordinary remedies, even in the civil context. Those remedies include basically the stripping of the ability to do business in the state of New York and the ordering of the dissolution of a business doing business in New York. That's what the judge did today. No matter what he finds in the damages phase of this trial, the Trump Organization is out of business. And that's not good for Donald Trump."

In August President Biden asked lawmakers for more money for FEMA and to approve $16M in supplemental aid.

The aid was to help with the recovery of Maui's wildfire, Vermont's flooding and Hurricane Idalia in the southeastern states.

The MAGA GOP House have ignored the requests.

They are too busy trying to shut the government down for what they think will be Trump's gain. They want to advance their awful agenda to cut the budget to hurt poor Americans, pass their terrible border enforcement policies and impeach President Biden with no evidence what so ever.

A shutdown will leave FEMA to manage the current hurricane season with a bare-bones, unpaid staff in Washington. Other employees would be furloughed and also left without a paycheck.

FEMA will struggle to provide for people in disasters and some people will lose their lives and homes because of Trump and his cronies.

Republicans don't give a damn about Americans.
