After about 7 months of work, I finally closed my SMB deal today.
It’s been a lot of work, but it’s also been a lot of fun. I can’t wait to finally get to work in the business.
I have so many things I plan to share now that it’s officially done.
@preston_holland If they want to be the new trusted form of media, they can’t turtle when it’s time to talk about the hard stuff or the news hits close to home. V disappointing.
The US was already the richest country on earth, it didn’t become that way because of trade deficits. In addition, national debt has grown 100x+ over that period of time. Not good.
A trade deficit means you’re spending more with other countries than they’re spending with you. With one country, fine. In the aggregate, not fine.
We saw what happened when global supply chains (and most critically China) were impacted during/after Covid and it was a disaster. That was only a temporary crisis and is a preview into what could be.
China as a nation state (which is how they function) choosing to cut off trade is the antithesis of free market. The whole point here is China does not operate as a free market, they never have. Everything is state controlled and subsidized. We are trying to play a free market game with an opponent who openly hates and refuses to participate in a free market.
@MatznerJon The wave/tsunami exists. There are tons of retiring business owners. It’s just that most of the community pitches the wave to look one way but the reality is it looks quite different. Still rideable, just not as glamorous or perfect.
@zanehengsperger Took a picture of a part I wanted to make, fed it to ChatGPT and asked it what different pieces of equipment I could use and the pros/cons of each path. Wild.
@chasemurdock Had the exact same reaction. It’s a lazy take, especially when comparing business that actually spit off cash flow vs those that largely don’t.
@Byzness It happens in Big Four public accounting also. Charging north of 80 during busy season is all but expected. Charging 100 is not abnormal. Speaking from personal experience, if you’re charging 100, you’ve certainly worked more than that but can only “justify” 100.
