@tamurphy 100%. The great thing today is that startup employees generally get paid market (versus being asked to live off of ramen, like when I started my career). I think the biggest difference in big vs small tech is RSUs vs options, the former being liquid immediately.

@tamurphy Sometimes missionaries get rich, but if you care about money go join Google and be a "mercenary." There is nothing wrong with either approach, but just be thoughtful and purposeful in your decisions.

And 100% take care of yourself. Each path has its own stresses.

@tamurphy Advice I always give folks asking about joining a startup is that you need to commit to being a "missionary." In that you join because of the mission, not because you want to make money. Be sure you can live off the salary, and expect the stock to be worthless.
