For 15 years, being “digitally savvy” got me work.
But that's no longer enough.
I, and all non-profits, must develop AI SAVVY. And fast.

Work in #wonkcomms and wondering what to do about generative #AI?
WonkComms original @nicknet has just launched an online course that may be just the ticket: Generative AI for policy communicators.
Excellent @CharityDSReport from @zoeamar and colleagues. 70% of charities are using AI in their day to day work but mostly informally. There’s an urgent need for a more strategic approach to AI
Quina tristesa la mort de Toni Matas: incansable innovador, creatiu, tecnològic, amb tanta feina la @llenguacatalana. Sempre cordial i col·laborador. Fa tan poc que t’havia demanat opinió… sempre amb projectes. Gràcies. @Tinusmundus https://t.co/ttYF1IlFES via @elpuntavui
@beckyunions21 Ps I ended up going to bed early, waking at 1.30 (12.30) to check exit poll, then at 3.30 (2.30) for some results and Twitter, then again at 5.30 (4.30)
Telling a story AND demonstrating AI's "ability" to stereotype AT THE SAME TIME?
Meet Alex, a think tank communications director (sound / captions on).
Thank you to everyone who came to our session on AI at the #OTTConference. It was a very enriching experience! 🚀
A big shoutout for our deluxe guests @keithburnet, @nicknet and Maria Gutiérrez Domenech, from @FundlaCaixa 👏🏼
Our session on AI at the #OTTConference was full of insights… and people! Thank you @keithburnet@nicknet and @FundlaCaixa for presenting fresh data and use cases on how think tanks can leverage AI and @werlinski for sharing your experience at @sociopublico co-learning program!
@QQMendizabal@tomhashemi@keithburnet Ultimately, the reason to think disclosure of AI use is a good thing is that we’re heading into a total trust crisis.
No one is going to believe anything is real.
Anything we can do to instil the principle of transparency is gonna be helpful in navigating trust challenges.
@QQMendizabal@tomhashemi@keithburnet There’s gonna be levels, ain’t there?
Editors of all sorts are often actually credited (rightly). I think that if the AI has taken a proactive role in influencing the ideas that could be made clear.
@tomhashemi@keithburnet Third thought: we will never fix the problem of AI needing organisational focus if we’re not honest about how deep and broad usage actually is
@tomhashemi@keithburnet Interesting question. Firstly I think we do disclose the internet when we do research! We refer to the webpage that is the source.
The second thought is that implicitly non-disclosure right now is about getting a head start over others in a way I’m not sure is honourable.
There's still time to share your thoughts on think tank communications and AI.

think tanks! The great Nick Scott @nicknet (who gave a generation of @WonkComms invaluable comms guidance) is seeking more answers on how think tanks can use AI!
(Don't remember whether I clicked DE or GE in responses.)

While we talk about the power of AI, let’s also amplify the challenges.
Share the post below and let’s have a proper conversation about the AI we want, and the fairest way to get there.
I hope that this time around we can find the models that augment and benefit the human behind the music – the musician – not just big music industry businesses, or big tech.
