Rhesus macaque model reveals perinatal shifts in the maternal gut microbiome even when diet and other environmental factors remained unchanged @MessaoudiLab https://t.co/ojJSfSGoI8
Acute SARS-CoV-2 infection is associated with an increased abundance of bacterial pathogens, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa in the nose https://t.co/BIPgnMq4yq
Hey guys, we have a new paper! Acute SARS-CoV-2 infection is associated with an increased abundance of bacterial pathogens, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa in the nose https://t.co/idSVt0QQS6
We are looking to fill a postdoc position in my lab to work on Akkermansia. Please spread the word!

Ilhem Messaoudi and colleagues @messaoudiLab use rhesus macaques to model diarrheal diseases and find reduced growth in early life is associated with a heightened systemic and mucosal inflammation and shifts in the microbiota. https://t.co/C0FFj5Gnci @nickrhoades32@MarkSlifka
@jordanschumway Vaccines don't cause variants. Every infected human is a potential incubator for creating a variant as they develop immunity to the invading pathogen and it attempts to mutate to survive. Fewer infected people = fewer variants. Vaccines = fewer infected people.

Hey! Check out our new preprint: Acute SARS-CoV-2 infection is associated with an expansion of bacteria pathogens in the nose including Pseudomonas aeruginosa @MessaoudiLab https://t.co/p2o9MbkGrA
A vaccine that provided up to 83% protection against severe diarrhea in rhesus macaques, suggesting that a hydrogen peroxide-based model may provide a viable option as scientists work to develop a vaccine to protect humans from diarrhea-causing bacteria. https://t.co/20IDYXEJ2H
Rhoades, Messaoudi and co examined the rectal microbiome of infant rhesus macaques. It was possible to predict those that would go on to have diarrhea: certain Prevotella strains are associated with future diarrhea. Possible application to human babies https://t.co/F0Jp346ZpD
