1988: Zero Cool was mentioned in a story on the front page of the New York Times for crashing 1,507 computer systems the day before, resulting in panicked selling in the stock market and a drop in the DJIA and NYSE.
(Well, in the 1995 movie Hackers that is! Hack the planet!)
I don't know who needs to hear this, but seeing as I'm staring at an example in my inbox right now, someone does.
Appending "Sent Securely" to the subject line of your e-mail does not in fact make it or the information it contains "secure".
@plenque@chunkhost I'm just another (former) customer who noticed everything go down around the same time you did. I have no control over anything nor do I have any contacts that I can put you in touch with. Sorry.
In honor of Keanu Reeves' birthday today:
This is Matrix movie star Keanu Reeves. He was abandoned by his father at the age of 3 and grew up with 3 different stepfathers. He is dyslexic. His dream of becoming a hockey player was shattered by a serious accident. His daughter passed away at birth. His wife passed away in a car accident. His best friend, River Phoenix, passed away of an overdose. His sister battled leukemia.
No bodyguards, no luxury houses. Keanu lives in an ordinary apartment and likes wandering around town and is often seen riding a subway in NYC.
When he was filming the movie "The Lake House," he overheard the conversation of two costume assistants, one crying as he would lose his house if he did not pay $20,000 - On the same day, Keanu deposited the necessary amount in his bank account.
In his career, he has donated large sums to hospitals, including $75 million of his earnings from “The Matrix” to charities.
In 2010, on his birthday, Sept 2nd, Keanu walked into a bakery & bought a brioche with a single candle, ate it in front of the bakery, and offered coffee to people who stopped to talk to him.
In 1997, some paparazzi found him walking one morning in the company of a homeless man in Los Angeles, listening to him and sharing his life for a few hours.
In life, sometimes the ones most broken from inside are the ones most willing to help others.
This man could buy everything, and instead, every day he gets up and chooses one thing that can not be bought:
To be a caring person.
Simple Acts of Kindness
Share this — who knows, maybe Keanu will see it for his birthday!
Google has already started forcing Web Integrity into Chromium despite it being a 'proposal'
With WEI, users can be denied access for using non-approved browsers or hardware
The open Internet is officially dead as soon as this is commonly implemented
On the bright side, the rebranding to "X" means we're one step closer to being able to organize social media icons to spell words the same way people jokingly reorder their Microsoft Office shortcuts.
Maybe we can get Instagram in on it by changing to "i"?
As a…
– Twitter user
I want…
– unlimited interactivity – centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking – creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities.
so that…
– It’s no longer possible to even parody this fucking shitshow.
I've seen a few tweets now requesting invites to or discussing a competing sky-themed social service.
While said service is the "hot new thing", I also encourage you to look into another platform that starts with "M". There's room in those pools, too!

@CaseyNuge Are you coming into this having typed on any mechanical keyboards before, and if so, do you have any good or bad opinions about what you've tried?
Do you use the numeric keypad, arrow keys, and/or F1-F12 keys a lot? Some of the "hip" keyboards omit some or all of those.
