@IroncladDev You can just not use AUR. I think Nix is overrated for a personal workstation. I have my config files in a repo.. a new system literally takes me 5 minutes and there's very little difference if I setup fedora, debian, arch.. or whatever.

@choehau_ara You can extract a deb or rpm and install anything manually on any distro. As long as you have the dependencies the binary will be looking for you'll be fine. So much of ArchLinux's AUR just downloads and extracts Deb packages.

@thekitze If you want to really work.. just use Fedora with Gnome. You'll have a good out of the box experience and a good balance of newer packages that are still tested somewhat for a stable experience. Thats my opinion.

@EskilSteenberg It's an incredible video which helped me a lot.. and its not specifically the content but the process and course it triggers a person to take and rethink his style and priorities when making software. Thank you. I think videos like this one and your talks have an enormous impact.

@cmuratori I really wish people would not validate fields at all if they're not confident they can cover all cases.

I had a similar problem today with "enterprise software" for thousands of dollars and a field for html "tag name" didn't accept numbers - so an h1, h2, h3, h4 was invalid....
