W/@IANPHIhealth, @rki_de, @RBCRwanda, @AfricaCDC, @WHO Emergencies Prgm consulted 50+ NPHAs & partners in 🇷🇼 last week to unpack, strategise & advance this agenda
National Public Health Agencies are key to enhancing public health capacities for health emergencies
Glad to have our team at #IANPHI Annual Meeting in Kigali to reinforce @WHO’s commitment to support countries build resilient, sustainable health systems to advance #HealthForAll
WHO refutes Israel's accusation at the Executive Board meeting yesterday that WHO is in “collusion” with Hamas and is “turning a blind eye” to the suffering of hostages being held in Gaza. Such false claims are harmful and can endanger our staff who are risking their lives to serve the vulnerable. As a United Nations agency, WHO is impartial and is working for the health and well-being of all people.
Excited about 2024!

Congratulations to my dear brother Minister @DembyAustin & the people of Sierra Leone on the establishment of the Sierra Leone National Public Health Agency by @PresidentBio@WHO will work with and support countries to develop and grow their NPHAs.
Strong relationships don’t need agreement. They need alignment.
Agreement is having identical opinions. Alignment is having shared values.
Agreement is taking the same path. Alignment is heading in the same direction.
Closeness is a matter of commitment, not consensus.
🌍#WHS2023 Takeaways: "Without any surveillance system in place how can we determine vaccination effectiveness in a country? How can we ever find out if an investment in a technology pays back for this population and this country? Surveillance is really at the heart of things." said @c_drosten@ChariteBerlin
