Continuing my #ecdevflashcards series with laying out how DIFs work in Massachusetts. The captured incremental tax revenue is not restricted to hard costs— DIFs *can* be a dynamic tool for stabilization in downtowns experiencing rapid growth.
#GatewayCities are home to diverse, vibrant communities. We're grateful for #Revere#TDIMass partner @WeeRevere, led by Olga Tacure, which is working to empower local immigrant & refugee women & build an inclusive city.

Was very moved by the newest art installation at City Hall this morning. *We belong here together guided by the same stars* - by local Boston artist Yu-wen Wu.
Check out @BankerTradesman's recent Q&A w/ our #Revere#TDIMass fellow Laura Christopher on how she's working w/ local partners to strengthen the Shirley Ave. corridor. Bonus: local restaurant recommendations! #GatewayCities

Zooming out from the day-to-day to examine the systems that underlie our status quo. So far I’ve found teams at @CityOfBoston to be pretty good at “imagining” — we need to get stronger at trying more experiments and scaling the ones that work. Thanks @MitchWei for the inspo ✨
Multi-tenant or “shared spaces” can help business communities mitigate rising operating cost burdens, reduce the threat of commercial displacement, and provide platforms for emerging entrepreneurs while adding increased vibrancy to the neighborhood.

@PlanningAutumn Shirley Ave in Revere, MA! Transit accessible, a public beach, a grocery store, tons of awesome markets, some small green space, amazing food (and coffee!!) and awesome business owners/neighborhood.
I love public libraries because they are built on the principle that books are so important and so necessary to human flourishing that access to them cannot depend on your income.

Doing my best to lay out economic development concepts flashcard style! I’m keeping a running list of terms that might make a community member or emerging developer go “hmm.”
What should I add to the list?!

Sharing a peek into the Shirley Ave TDI Partnership's work in Revere! The group found a way to tap into a local passion and #shoplocal on Small Business Saturday. Our event has helped to spur on follow-on World Cup opportunities in Revere (stay tuned!)

Mise en place 📍
(French pronunciation: [mi zɑ̃ ˈplas]) is a French culinary phrase which means "putting in place" or "gather"
In OUR kitchen it means getting ready for some serious placemaking on the Ave!
Talk about a group that’s doing great things for youth art + entrepreneurship! ✨🧱 Paper City Clothing Company is raising funds to transform their new space: https://t.co/Bxolxk1cKh
