Important step forward for geroscience: ARPA-H, XPRIZE, InItiaTe, and the Academy for Geroscience helped sponsor a thoughtful FDA discussion hosted by Reagan-Udall and expertly moderated by Susan. Thanks to Jamie Justice and Andrew Brack for making it happen.

The big takeaway: FDA colleagues were receptive to intrinsic capacity and meaningful endpoints, but we must show up with sharper IND proposals and clearer regulatory asks.

The conceptual gap remains prevention. Regulators still think in “patients” and diseases. We are asking them to also think about treating health.

And yes, TAME still looks like the study many agree should be done. Still. 🤪

I left optimistic. The roadmap is sharper, the work is clearer, and we are moving forward.

Today, the Academy for Health and Lifespan Research officially announced its new name: the Academy of Geroscience.

At a time when conversations around #longevity and “#antiaging” are everywhere, this feels like an important step toward grounding the field in rigorous, evidence-based science. #Geroscience is about understanding the biological processes of aging itself and how they drive disease, with the goal of improving health as we age.

This was a great event! There is definitely a lot of promise in incorporating AI into Geroscience research, but my takeaway from this summit was that the AI engineers cannot forget to include the geroscientist when coming up with solutions.
