And not even 24 hours after the promises are already broken.
Heavy vehicles are back on the road during peak the peak hour according to @noorainee post herself -
@Jointcptraffic@blrcitytraffic@wftrps WHY ARE YOU MAKING THE TRAFFIC ISSUES WORSE ON VARTHUR - GUNJUR ROADS
https://t.co/mg4R6qywfb
What exactly is the objective of this video? We have seen this on repeat over the last decade. It is nothing but optics. Would you invest in a private company that released a video about their internal working problems ?
@krishnabgowda Sir. We have no interest in the why and who. You are now in the seat and we would love to see just quiet systemic moving of the government machinery, giving people what it's due. Rightfully.
School kids taking over two hours to get home from school. Is there a fix to varthur and Gunjur's infra woes ?

📍SH35 Varthur: Same Chaos, Different Day 🚨
Bleeding red again. 🔴
Another day, another 30+ minutes lost standing still at Varthur Police Station junction. The red on the map from Reliance Digital to Mithila Delights isn't a one-off — it's the daily reality of a road that was never designed to carry today's traffic.
This isn't a "manage it better" problem. @blrcitytraffic@Jointcptraffic@wftrps@ICCCBENGALURU
It's a structural failure: local roads from Venkateshappa Layout and Patel Layout dump straight onto SH35 at a sharp junction, with retail and residential traffic (Reliance Digital, Kia showroom, Prestige Lavender Fields) merging into through-traffic headed to Gandhi Circle — with no service road, no grade separation, nothing to break the conflict.
Media visits. Officials pose for photos. Press coverage rolls out in morning. And the very next afternoon, commuters are back to crawling through the same stretch, engines idling, tempers rising. @ChristinMP_@TVMohandasPai@kiranshaw@NammaBengaluroo
Photo-ops don't fix junctions. Infrastructure does. @GBA_office@GBAChiefComm@BECCUPDATES
What Varthur actually needs:
🔹️A flyover or underpass at the police station junction
🔹️Dedicated service roads to separate local and through traffic
🔹️Real budget allocation — not just inspection visits
🔹️Until that happens, "high-profile visits" will keep producing headlines while citizens keep producing horn honks.
We don't need more Papparazi on this problem — we need action with a timeline and a budget line on ground @krishnabgowda@rk_misra@lkatheeq@CitizenPulseX
Varthur - Gunjur - Dommasandra - Panathur is an urban planning disaster.
Road grid density is less than 10 km/km², while across other heavily residential / office areas it is above 20 km/km².
Dense urban areas require between 20-30 km/km²
The Varthur-Gunjur corridor has apartments, schools, offices, tankers and heavy vehicles competing for roads that were never designed to handle this volume of traffic.
The result? An 8-km commute can take hours, while wrong-side driving, roadside parking, construction and narrow stretches make the gridlock even worse.
Urban planners say the bigger problem is urbanisation happening faster than infrastructure.
With thousands of vehicles entering some stretches around the same time during school and office peaks, experts say road widening alone may not be enough.

We witnessed a 1+ hour traffic deadlock jam near Brigade Utopia to Varthur police station,
This 1 km stretch took 1 hrs for School buses
@krishnabgowda@DCPTrEastBCP@wftrps
Is this acceptable? Kids were trapped and suffocating inside bus, heat etc
Have some accountability?

Day 81: High-profile visits and soundbites won't pave broken corridors! 🛑📋
@DKShivakumar@krishnabgowda sir, days after national media exposed Varthur, the promises have evaporated while the 140-ft Gunjur CDP link sits blocked & SH-35 widening remains stalled. 1/2
Welcome to @NammaBengaluroo the city where citizens pay premium taxes for budget-quality roads. 🚧
Potholes are permanent, repairs are temporary, and accountability seems to be permanently “under process.”
Citizens pay on time. Why can’t the system deliver on time?
How long will taxpayers be expected to fund this circus while contractors, officials and politicians keep passing the responsibility around? @ChristinMP_
One full week of tracking on SH-35
Evening: 93% of routes were not late, all week. Just 4 exceptions, each a single off day, not a pattern.
Morning: real but partial progress. 9 of 61 routes were late every single day, some outside the Varthur-Gunjur stretch entirely (Kodigehalli, Old Madras Rd, Attibele-Anekal Rd, Doddanekkundi) That's our target list for week 2.
We also checked what this week would have looked like at the old 2:20 PM departure: an average of 12 routes would have late every day, versus zero in the last 3 days. So the earlier dispersal is doing most of the work. But this schedule shift comes at a real cost for our students, amounting to a cumulative weekly loss of up to 10 hours for Beyond Academics activities & 2.5 hours of academic classes. Yet, 51% of routes held up all week even without it, showing genuine improvement on the road, not just the clock.
We need to build on the operational changes that the police & govt are making, while the govt finalises & implements mass mobility solutions & a more robust road network

Thank you @blrcitytraffic@wftrps@CPBlr@Jointcptraffic@DCPTrEastBCP for a week that actually held.

Thank you, Moneycontrol, for bringing attention to the daily commute faced by children along the #SH35 corridor
Data from school buses shows that average commute time has risen 22% in two years, to 112 minutes a day. Over two years of schooling, that adds up to more than a full school term spent on the road. This corridor serves 42 schools and around 40,000 students.
Behind those numbers are children losing time for play, rest, family and learning
We appreciate the traffic police’s recent restrictions on heavy vehicles during school hours. They show that coordinated action can help. Now we need to sustain those efforts, repair and improve the roads, and accelerate longer-term public transport solutions.
Our children cannot afford for this to become yesterday’s headline. Please read the article! @krishnabgowda@BPACofficial@wftrps@blrcitytraffic@WFRising@rk_misra@TVMohandasPai@PCMohanMP@ArvindLBJP@MansoorKhanINC@GBAChiefComm@MALimbavali@GBA_office
An update on Varthur–Gunjur–Sarjapur Road.
Here is a 7th grader’s illustration of his daily journey. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
As a temporary workaround, we advanced school dispersal by 30 minutes. Thankfully, @blrcitytraffic and @wftrps restricted heavy vehicles and deployed additional traffic personnel.
The impact even for one day was dramatic -
Morning delays fell from an average of 13 minutes each day to just 1 minute
Students reached home 36 minutes earlier in the evening!
If better traffic management alone can make such a difference, imagine what repairing and widening the road could achieve.
This is proof that the problem is solvable when the Government, police, schools and communities come together to acknowledge and address an issue that is hurting our children.
Our sincere thanks to the Government and traffic police for listening and acting. Now we must work together to make these improvements sustained not temporary

🚨 Day 5 — Varthur Crisis📌
Still no word from @krishnabgowda.
Credit to @wftrps for continuously monitoring school-hour traffic and trying to manage the chaos.
But #KRDCL must answer for the road it is responsible for. How long will residents and schoolchildren continue paying the price for unfinished work?
Enough of shifting the problem. Publish the exact status, identify the bottleneck, name the agency responsible, and give Varthur a firm completion deadline.
📌 Day 5 of the crisis. Day 5 without answers.🙏 KRDCL — Stop managing the delay. Finish the road.

Bengaluru's SH-35: School bus travel time has increased 22% in two years, with students now spending an average 112.3 minutes a day commuting
Students are spending equivalent of more than one full school term on the road every two years.
